Happy New Year
Started my new build MV American Beauty 12/25/2021. and finished my Tugster Tug Boat Kit included some photos of both
Dumas Model MV American Beauty Kit#1215
Model is disappointing
The parts ar stamp cut and cutts don't go thru the wood very time consumming getting the pieces free.
Written directions are slim to none. 20 pages.
Dimensions are few and far between.
prop nozzels are 3D printed and break easy.
So working from the drawings which are not to scale I'm making some head way.
I will try to add photo's as I go

Hi Bruce. From what I can tell you’re doing a fine job on the American Beauty. I built the Dumas Higgins PT boat last year, night and day difference. ABS hull, laser cut parts good fittings. The American Beauty is an older design from Dumas, and except for the printed nozzles it sounds like they haven’t updated it much over the years. Keep at it, she’ll make a pretty boat.

Hi Bruce1946,
I have built all the Dumas Tugboats! I had no idea the American Beauty model! Was built using cheap ply! I Sir have learned from you! It's a shame they did her in cheap ply! That makes for a terrible experience! I have built all the model tugs by Dumas! And they're done in ABS except for the San Pedro which has a wooden frame! ABS sheets used for the Hull! I'm not sure that I would ever buy anouther Dumas kit again. the Instruction and plans are horrible. The Wood and parts are horrible, the die cutting of the parts is sad they should be using laser cutting. plywood parts cutting only goes partway thru the wood having to use alot of time cutting parts out with xacto knifes is both time consumming and unsafe. I ended up using a scroll saw to cut out the parts. Plans & Instructions for Kit #1219-Barge You can order the plans and instructions here for the barge $2.50.. the kit is $100 ▲

Hi Bruce,
Happy New Year! One question? Will you be collecting the Dumas Barge kit for her! It's Kit #1219! I built the Barges years ago! They measure in at 43"s which add to the tug and barge float! Cheers, Ed It's a very good kit and would add to your American Beauty Build! ▲
