These two ("little") beauties were given to me on the understanding they would go back in the water. I have started stripping them down to look at the hulls and repair as needed. Barbra 2 is 5ft 7inch in length and 15 inch wide, she originally had a 25cc petrol engine (that I was also given) that I may put back in if it checks out OK, but I may swap out for electric, but Iam not sure what suit her. She will also need some heavy-duty radio kit again not sure what. The other is a model of the Empire Orwell a German built ship as a hospital ship. She was captured by the British and use served as The Empire Doon, under the Orient Line until 1950 when she was converted into a troop ship and renamed the Empire Orwell. In 1958 she was again sold this time to the Blue Funnel Line as the Gunung Djaiti, sailing as a pilgrim ship between Indonesia and Djeddah. She was finally sold to the Indonesian navy as the troop ship Tanjung Pandan until being scraped in 1987. She is as a model again just over 5Ft long and is in need of a bit of TLC, she has two electric motors, that I will get check out and she will need radio kit. I have built RC boats before a long time ago, but never to this scale and hope to be asking some advice as I go along, one bit of advice being, how to make them lighter and easier to handle. I hope I have put this blog in the correct page! And I will post the progress as I go along. I am looking forward to seeing back in the water.

It is a long time since I used RC this big, the liner shouldn't be to bad as she will no go that fast but yeh I think the launch is going to pose a bit of a problem. I am thinking about an electric motor with a bit less umph than the 25cc engine that came with her, but not sure what? The size of them is the BIG problem, The boot of car can only just take the liner and that's with the back seats down and the bow sticking between the two front seats.๐Ÿ˜‚

Looks nice boat but it's going to be demanding as regards transport and its going to need a lot of water to manoeuvre. My experience of big boats with high power is that they're disappear in a flash and not easily turned at low speed. Hopefully, you are experienced with these and have the water, good luck and don't hit anything๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿคž

Thanks for that, I wasn't sure what to put in her but I think that is a good idea.

The Barbra is a nice looking model, Iโ€™m sure you will get the advice you need to get her back in the water
Iโ€™m no expert but initial search for a 25cc petrol to a comparable brushless motor came up with a 5020 400KV brushless Iโ€™ve no doubt others will come up with an exact match
    Good look

I believe the saying is " Hope springs eternal ",
well my hope that the hull on the Barbra 2 was not going to need a lot of work. On first inspection it looked pretty good apart from bubbling of the fiberglass covering on the stern, Unfortunately on close inspection I found that the wood under the fiberglass is rotten and there are a number of holes were the wood has rotted through. I will post pictures as soon as I can.โ˜น๏ธโ˜น๏ธ
