It's the old Sterling kit, light as a feather, sans plywood, but now that I have the hull glassed and looking great, I can say it was not too hard.
    )EDITOR)
This is a colossal lie, one of the biggest ever told...let's face it, is was more sanding than anyone can imagine. This is the first kit he's built since 1975. So I can tell he is learning, sometimes he just turns to this AMAZING website, picks up some gigantic tip that he will use now, or on the next build, a Shelly Foss, it will go together that much quicker and smoother.
This hobby is truly too much fun!

    I have inside knowledge.
This is her story, at least the parts that make me look good.

I am going to post a lot more of the Lumba soon, I have been making what for me are positive strides. I love that hull, and I just finished glassing it up and doing a lot of leveling.

I am over here, and I don't want you to miss the Lumba, she just got paint, and I hope you will follow the blog, not sure how this works, I am not good at tech! Peace!

ere's the results of the second application of Total Boat resin or the well sanded first layer.
I tried Bondo, which helped with leveling and was easy to sand. I am always looking for something sand-able.

I decided to over power her since she has so much displacement and rides so high she can really carry some cargo. Two 800 motors and nice props give her the speed I was looking for, and if I want to re-motor her, that is no problem. She rides perfectly draft wise, so I am chuffed with the sheer power I have in my hands, almost too much to even hold back. I am interested in how she will ride under power in the lake. I may have to trim a bit but I think it's a very positive development.

Wow! That is so awesome, I appreciate all the items in your comment. I notice she has a tendency to roll, and her cute tumblehome does not help, so I am going to be trimming her out by keeping things as low as possible. I put the motors midships as far forward as I could and almost on the hull, I cut through 3 or 4 ribs. I didn't get the low angle I was looking for, but f there are any ride problems I will move things. I am working on the details trying to get the curves in the cabin, the rain channel that curves down. I want it to be so perfect, I am getting lost in every detail, but damn it's a blast. Once all the hard work is done, I don't feel the pressure of do-or-die things like the planking, I approach it with caution!

When you do power her ...try to lay her battery down or use a different type so that you keep the weight very low. This boat at best and in real life is very tippy.

Watch this video...at the 2:32 mark you will start to see video of "Lumba Lumba" on her way to the Gran Duc mine in Stewart BC heading up Stewart Channel. She was the crew boat fo0r the mine out of Prince Rupert BC
