I use SLA because of the weight in my tug and still have to add an additional 18 pounds of ballast. Also I am not a big fan of lipo's, I'll use NIMH were I can

Hi Martin,
Thanks, I had started it months ago! The Bow Thruster took me weeks to do as I didn't want to botch it up! Being patient pays off in many ways! LOL! You were right just drill the damn thing! You know it took me 10 hours of putting the hull in the domestic test tank! To find all the leaks and plug them all! I had her in the water for another 10 hours to make sure there were no leaks! And I patiently waited, and it paid off! Hull is completely watertight! Cheers, Ed- ▲

Hi Ed,
You have made a great start to this build, and I know there will be many many hours of fun making this as there are a lot of bits and pieces that you can get working. I will be following this build log with great interest. Good luck with the rest of the build. Martin. ▲

Hi Pressonregardless,
Thank you, I really wanted to make sure her bottom coat came out great! I put 19.4 lbs. of ballast saw where the waterline went! Took her out of the water and marked her waterline! Then sprayed her! I even shocked myself the way her bottom came out! But as they say practice makes perfect! I'm really happy how it came out! Cheers, Ed- ▲

Thank you, all!
I have included new pix! I gave her a final coat! I think this looks good! I also installed her rudders and Props! Don't ask me how I sprayed and it's drizzling here! LOL! Cuz, I'd have to say in between the drops! LOL! - The Red Oxide I'm using dries very quickly! π I put the painted model in my bathroom with a heater! The heater heats up the room and the paint dry very fast! Then I open my windows for about 1 hour to let the house vent! Cheers, Ed- ▲

Just a question, if the fuses are under the main deck can you chnage out one if it blows?

Dusseldorf is nearly finished Ed. Pressure is on to finish her for the Spring but nobody seemed to mention by which year.π
I am doing the final monitor fitting and then I just need to connect everything up and fit all of the deck and cabin fittings. This will take about two s. Peter. ▲

Hi Peter,
No, I haven't given up on LiPo's! I use the SLA's as part of the Ballast for my Tugs! I use my LiPo's for my Yacht! The Happy Hunter needs about 18.4 lbs. of Ballast! So, the SLA's come in handy! LOL! π Cheers, Ed- PS, did you finish the Dusseldorf? How'd it come out? Ed- ▲

Nice job Ed. I like those cable tidy clips you have used.
Dusseldorf has six ESCβs so I know the thought process whilst wiring and controlling them. Looking good. Have you given up on LiPoβs? Peter.ππ ▲

Hi Martin,
No, I haven't but as I add weight, I'll compensate by taking out ballast. But my WTL is about 7mm I hope it's alright. If not? I'll subtract weight as needed! Cheers, Ed- ▲

Hi Peter,
I do! I'm using the BEC from the Bow Thruster! And Port Starboard engines have their red wire disconnected! And I didn't see any magic smoke! LOL! Everything tested and it works just fine! Oh, I had to order a replacement clutch for the port engine. As I notice its off alignment and vibrates terribly! Cheers, Ed- ▲

Hi Ed.
Do you ESCβs have BEC. If they do, only one can be connected back to the Rx. I think if you have 2 ESCβs in parallel to one Rx connection, this is ok, but your bow thruster will be independent so will need the positive wire removed from the plug back to the Rx. Peter. ▲

Nice job Ed. I did the same on my current build. They are smaller in length than the ones you have done and not as many either. You have done really well. The hull is coming along nicely.

Itβs looking very good Ed. I donβt like cutting scuppers in the bulwarks either. Havenβt done it yet on the Kalle. Didnβt do it on the Taucher, as itβs fiberglass and harder to fix if I mess upπ€£ yours looks good!!
