The plastic deck support came in the kit and had to be epoxied to the edge of the hull.

Once the propshaft was in I lined up and glued in the motor mount and built a shelf for the reciever and speed controller.
The motor in the picture is a 7.2V 400 size.

From the model shop I brought a 20 amp speed controler, 2 channel 27Mhz controler, a standard servo. The battery is a 1600Mah 7.2v from one of my cars. I also built a battery box.
For now the servo is linked to the rudder with a piece of silver solder because the model shop didnt have any linkages long enough.
The deck supports which came in the kit were to flimsy so I made some better ones from strips of balsa wood

The next job was to fix the deck. The deck came printed on a piece of printed vinyl. (like most things in the kit) The deck was glued on with lots!!! of epoxy then sealed around the edges with filler. I think the boat looks great up to now and Im really pleased with it.

I tested the boat on Bournville Boating lake in Birmingham.
I wasn't expecting the boat to go as fast as it did. I will upload some videos soon.
But after 15 mins the motor got upto 70 degrees celcius!!
I need water cooling.

I bought a hull and top from ebay about 36" long it was a all wood hull
and top I am modifying it too be a seaplane tender it had a Ic motor in but I have now decided too put in a 600 motor in water cooled I will post pictures of the build mick ▲

The next job was to attatch the spray strip and rubbing strip. These pieces came in the kit as strips of plastic, they just needed to be cut to size and superglued on.

I made the mistake of using loctite superglue on some rubbing strips and forgot to pin them, after about 3 trips to the lake they started to peel away, even though they had been painted and varnished.

I hope suer-glue will hold my strakes on OK.
I have just made some strakes to fit on the hull bottom of my Rapier (3 each side) and for the first time I have used super-glue to fix them in place with no brass nails. Previously I have used PVA for this job and in the 1960's I used Cascomite and Aerolite 306 and they all worked OK. I have driven my boats hard (and even raced my Swordsman in the sea) and they have held together OK.........so far............. ▲

Did you pin as well as superglue, as I've found superglue will release when wet.

This was one of the hardest parts of the boat to built. The instructions on how to build this weren't the best and in the end I added a few more pieces to add detail.

The boat is begining to take shape. The rear well fits tightly and shouldnt leak. I also built the tiller hatch.
