... ๐ lol .. No pressure then ! .. lol ๐
I,m afraid this may not be a quick build, because it is an "infill" build.. Always try to have two models on the go, as sometimes waiting for glue or worse still, the paint to dry that's a lot of wood cutting time wasted.. Regards Muddy ▲

Genau Muddy๐
(Exactly!) Very good๐ No heel clicking please, a simple grovel will suffice Warrant๐๐คฃ Good luck with the rest of your build, glad you are recovered and up to it again๐ Never heard of laminated stringers before, but it makes sense when such strength is needed. Doubles the work though๐ค More power to your sander, keep well. Cheers, Doug ๐ ▲

Doug, I believe this is the translation -
"PS: I'm Fleet Admiral, not Fleet Admiral !! Painful heel cracking is not absolutely necessary".. Keep smiling and better still, Keep Safe. atb.. Muddy.. ▲

Thank you Fleet, ( I think ) lol..
Laminated Stringer, I'll try, if the drawing states 1/4" x 1/4", one would laminate 2 off 1/4" x 1/8", glueing together, thus making up the required size of a 1/4" x 1/4". Hope that helps. OK about Colin, he has passed me a few "Likes" in the past.. Not sure abt the P.S. I'll try to decode this later on.. ATB Doug de Muddy.. ▲

Stand easy Warrant!
Explanation accepted. Trust you are now passed A1 Fit For service ๐ (Next time get a Chit from the Fleet MO๐) See what you mean with the stringers, s'pose you weren't expecting to leave them for so long. Not quite sure what you mean with 'laminated stringers' but I guess we live and learn. Hope you find what you need in the cupboard.๐ค Looking forward to the rest of your build. Colin_H is a very experienced and expert vintage model boat restorer near Hereford, and Second in Command MB Navy South Western Command. ๐ Cheers, Doug ๐ PS: Ich bin Fleet Admiral, nicht Flotten Admiral!! Schmerzhaften Fersen-knacken ist nicht unbedingt nรถtig๐ ▲

Thank You FLEET, Your comments are always noted.
My only excuse was Illness, and for that i stand guilty. There have been Spasms of enthusiasm, but the ongoing projects were to big, thats why i started the trawler My Susan. Slowly building up to get back into it... ! It's a long time since i,ve been on the carpet, and not a military one either. Will await communication(s) from Colin, ( Who is Colin )..? Besides my regional/Divisional Officer. Speranza is back on hold, no timber for the hull, so i,m looking in the cupboard again.. I never steam or soak strings, i would rather laminate, the usual practice is to rub glue into the timber before applying to the bulkheads etc: this usually works for me, but on this occasion i was trying to rush the job along and chance my luck.. well you can see the resault. lol.. The other timber on the frame is well dryed out now as you say, but no other nasties are showing. Been adding a few bits to the frame and some filler paint to the Transom, so Sander and Mask tomorrow, here's hoping lol .. Regards Muddy.. ( Clicking heels ).. ▲

Wondered what had happened to 'Speranza' Muddy.
Seem to remember we were digging around for plans and photos some time ago. You've been AWOL since then Warrant!๐ Think I may need to have a word with your Division Officer; Commander Colin_H! As your CO he will decide if disciplinary action is necessary๐ค In the meantime carry on Warrant, Steady as you go๐ Maybe steaming or soaking the stringers before fitting would have prevented the cracking? On the other hand, they were left a rather long time to dry out and 'do their own thing'. Happy sanding; don't forget the dust mask!! FLEET// ๐ ๐ ▲

Hello Ron, A mixture of both realy Ron, where the holes are tight up against the combing they were drilled, and the others a bradaw was used, but the timber was old mahogany and as tough as old boots, easily split. Tend to use Tightbond, the standard stuff although if i,m working on bare wood finish then i use the brown Tightbond think its Tightbond 3. The standard Tightbond is not a waterproof glue , but as nearly ebverything is either painted or varnished i cannot see the point, the Tightbond 3 is a waterproof version as well as being brown in colour..
The reason for using this glue is that it is an Alphatic, and dries hard so one can work it with sandpaper etc: and it does not have that rubbery texture when dry. Hope this helps .. Muddy .. ▲

Amazing workmanship! Did you pre-drill the holes before putting the deck nails?
What glue are you using? Ron ▲

Hi muddy,
Looking good so far. Shame about the shortage of materials. If the lockdown lasts much longer you will end up cutting up the coffee table in to strips LOL!!! Martin555. ▲
