Veronica , planking completed, but now is the time for filler (plenty needed).
When is the best time to fill the gaps? Onto the bare wood, or after applying the resin coat.? Cheers in advance,, Ken

It all depends on the type of filler. If it's a wood filler, I do it first. After glass cloth and Eze-Kote, I then use knifing puty for minor marks and dents or modelling filler. Finally using high build filler primer before normal primer then the paint.
Not forgetting all the rubbing down after each process. Main ingredient is patience.
    Cheers Colin.

    Hi Ken,
First I would sand to shape more so you won't need so much filler.
If the filler is too thick it may be more prone to rattling out with knocks and vibration.
When I did the 'orrible 'ull on the fish cutter I inherited I first sanded to shape as close as I could.
I had already beefed up the hull by applying FG tissue and Ezekote on the inside, just in case it might fall apart on removing the 1/16" or so of ancient oil based paints.๐Ÿ˜ฎ
When happy with the form I applied wood sealer.
THEN filler, then Ezekote resin AFTER the filler was fully hardened and sanded back.
This ensures that the filler is fully sealed in and the hull watertight.
If you apply the filler over the resin it may be more prone to 'coming unstuck' ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Here my Blog so far on the cutter restoration and conversion from static to RC.

Current status and how I got there in the Blog.
    Happy filling, cheers, Doug๐Ÿ˜Ž

Sorry Doug just killing time while I wait for garage to fix my car.
Quick question? What rating is the Wire from your conversion box to my Taycol as I need to move it to a better location in the Hull. Don't worry about the deadline I've got Caroline to help me.
    Cheers Colin.

    Hi Colin,
The wire is "Highly flexible silicone cable" conductor cross section 2.5mmยฒ. Good for about 30A.
More than adequate for the 10A or so your Supermarine will slurp.
It's about the same as you'll find all over a car.
Something similar should be available at Halfords & co.
Try not to run the extended leads near the RX or parallel to the RX antenna!
Good luck with the wheels, hope it's not too expensive๐Ÿคž
    Ciao, Doug ๐Ÿ˜Ž
