    For a few month's now.
I've been pondering what should I build?
I thought of Fiberglass wooden Or back to ABS.

    Well After thinking it over.
    ABS is the safest material.
And the easiest for me to work with!
Although this kit is ABS and Wood....

Now as for a choice of model.
    I have always like Tugboats.
Any kind of Tug will do!

That comes from working on them!
Had a lot of fun learned a lot.
    Also suffered many back injuries!
But, Loved being out at sea!

I loved being out at sea so much.
    I even joined the U.S.Navy!
Now that was a lot of fun as well!

    Now back to the model.
I picked the "Atlantic" because in my collection of Model Tugs. I don't have an Ocean Going Tug!
The Atlantic now finishes off my collection of tugboats!

I look forward to the Build.
    And many hour of enjoyment!

I want to say, Thanks to:

    RNinMunich Doug,
    Also
    Martin555 Martin,

    Your input was well needed.
    And very much appreciated!πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

    Specs of Model:

    41.73'' (1,060 mm) length, 23.62'' (600 mm) height and 9.84'' (250 mm).

    Weight: TBD

PS. Now I'm like a kid again.
    Waiting for my delivery!
Should be here by next Friday...….🀞

    Hi Ed,
That looks a really good project.
When it arrives will you do an un boxing video or photos.
I would be very interested to see what a modern kit consisted of.

    Hi Commodore Sir,
I'm not volunteering but I do have some experience of moving boats from the third floor. However, in my case it was real boats, not models. At the time, forty years ago, I lived in an upstairs maisonette, essentially third floor. I needed a tender for the 43ft Cat Schooner I was building (In a boatyard!). My lounge wasn't very big, but I decided I could just about build an 8ft praam dinghy in it. Luckily the lounge was at the end of a straight run to the front door. I designed it to be built from 3 sheets of 8 x 4 ply and the actual build could be done in two evenings, not including painting. And so it happened. To get her out, I enlisted a friend to help. We carried her on her side to the balcony walkway outside the front door, lowered her down onto the pavement. Put her on top of the car., and that was it. She was such a pleasant dinghy to row or scull, that I soon built a new improved version complete with centreboard, rudder and sail. She sailed beautifully. Hope you are as successful.

    Thanks a lot guys!
I'm sure the Atlantic will be a nice build!

Brooklyn's Maiden Voyage will be soon!
TBD! I'm also looking for Volunteers!
It's a heavy model! And I live on a third floor.
    And there is no lift!☹️

    Fleet Admiral, Doug

I'll make sure to ask for permission?
    To commence ships work!
    Turn 2 as it were!

And you'll have a full report.
On your desk regarding Brooklyn's Maiden Voyage!

    Any takers?🀞

    PS. Good Night All!

    Commodore,
In the light of budget overruns and an unfriendly Congressional Committee,
You are herewith explicitly forbidden to commence construction of the Atlantic until Brooklyn has passed her sea trials and been accepted!!πŸ˜‰
Trials report and Acceptance Certificate expected before the onset of winter and freezing of the Hartford Sea.❄️
Good luck with the 'Beast' 🀞

OK, I've built model tugs and have used.
3.1 ratio but the tug Atlantis is more of a ship!
I'm thinking what gear ratio should I use?

Should it be 11.1 or 50.1!
    See,I don't want the model.
To take off like a rocket!

I'd like a scaled look to her!

    Alright you engineer guys.
    What ratio should I use?

I recieved my model of the Atlantic!
    I unpacked it I found a CD.
This CD has lots of pictures!
    I mean lot of pictures.
    But, no real instructions!
There are mesurement that are left out!
No mesurement what so ever are given!

The superstructor is a jig-saw puzzle.
    To put together!
But, again no mesurement are given!

All the stantions are in position.
And wire and some other bits

But, again no mention of mesurements!

    What to do?

I'm very use to building with mesurements!

Looks as if Tug Atlantic is going to be shipped back!!!!!!☹️☹️☹️

I'd be more inclined to first contact the supplier / manufacturer and check if a build manual accidentally got left out.
I'm assuming that (like my Deans Marine HMS Manxman kit) all plastic parts for the superstructure etc are either precut of printed on the sheets together with an individual part number.
At the same time I would check the web for build blogs from folks who have gone before!
Generally - "A picture tells a thousand words!".

How disappointing especially if as I expect it was quite an expensive kit and we know how you have been looking forward to this build. I sometimes think that manufacturers take far too much for granted when supplying a kit. I think the basic concept can be good but the execution of the details is left to members of staff with no experience or interest. I'd be inclined to return it if it is so bad as to be impractical to use. I've noticed a tendency in many things just to rely on pictures as the full instructions. Sometimes that's not enough.

    Hi All,

After receiving the model of the tug Atlantic.
And close inspection of the instructions.

I regret to say this Project is being cancelled!
    The instructions are just pictures.
On a cd, there are no written instruction what so ever!
There are a few measurements given.
But, not enough are given! To build this model!

So, I have decided to send her back!

And order the Tug Smit Nederland
    1:33 Scale…..

Oh, for such a big model.
Why would they use a wooden dowel.
    For the rudder post!
This post goes through a lot of stress.
They should have used a brass rod instead!

And her skeg is all made of laminated ply!
Which is then shaped into a skeg.
It's a great model they should have done a better job!

The best part of the model is the Hull!
It's a 1/8" thick hull very heavy duty!

And all I wanted to do to the model.
Wasn't going to be possible do to it's design!

    Hi Doug,

No I'm not calling the manufacturer!
    That's not my job!!!😁

I'm so disappointed, I don't want it any longer!

    Cheers, Ed

A wooden dowel for the rudder post? Seriously? That’s a pretty good sized model, that just sounds sketchy as all get-out. I’m with you, I’d send her back.
When I read your first report after you unpacked the kit I looked for any links or PDFs for instructions, came up with zilch.
Yep. Ship it, get something else. The lack of measurements I could almost deal with after building the Taucher but a wooden rudder post? Makes me think what else did they scrimp on.

OK, I sent back the Tug Atlantic.
    Back to the company.
This I did over two week ago!

    No refund in sight.
So, I call them and was told.
I have to wait till they have enough refund to process.
    What ever that means?

It's funny when you order from them.
They take your money right away!

So, Why do I have to wait around for my Refund!☹️😠

So when looking online you may want to stay clear of:

    www.micromark.com

Now they have my model and I don't have my Refund!!!

    Stay tuned!

For the next adventures of getting my Refund!!!!!!

    Hi Ed,
That is typical of quite a lot of online sites.
All they want is your money, they don't care about the customers anymore.
And yet they expect you to give them a five star rating.

Very pleased you got your refund, it's disgusting how long some firms take to do the honourable thing these days when they've made a boo boo. Hobby King couldn't supply some things I ordered recently, but they did issue a credit note very quickly. What's worse, is when they ask you for positive feedback when they've made a complete ....up of your order.
