Scratch build is well underway. It began with seeing one in a cradle on the shore of Lake Geneva. I wish now more photos would have been taken, but Google is a big help as are magazines.
Currently, working on the mounting and alignment of the rudder.

The tiller fits in the square hole near the top of the rudder. The brass rod will be cut off at deck level.

Rudder servo and linkage works well. Next the sail servo will be installed. I was given a mast and main sail from an old Dragon Force 65 to try and I made the jib this morning.

Servos are in, and sheets are set-up. The sails work at least on the workbench with a fan blowing lightly. Close haul and running down wind.

Next to finish decking and the cabin.

My wife had left over material from our daughters wedding dress. So I am using some light woven Tulle . It is stiffer than the fibreglass and does not take the 90 degree as easily, but on a flat section it may be just fine.

Ron thatโ€™s really looking sweet. Nice craftsmanship, nice subject. The DF65 sails made me look twice, I have one of those boats, itโ€™s a nice racing yacht, but I still prefer my Micro Magics. If you canโ€™t get fiberglass, have you ever thought of using old pantyhose.? I know some guys who used that in airplanes to good effect, and has been mentioned several times in some model aviation sources as a suitable substitution.

"When my wife does go out to get groceries, we disinfect the boxes, fruit, cans, grocery bags too. "
Gisela and I alternate with the shopping, and when we go to the supermarket we wear one time gloves (like we have to have by law in our car first aid kits) before we grab the handle of the shopping cart or push the buttons on the card reader! Signs of the times!
Stuff delivered from online should be safe due to the time in transit.
I've been researching the whole Corona virus family, includes the common cold virus BTW, and it's been established by several labs that the new variant, Covid-19 virus, can survive for max 3 days on hard dry surfaces like plastic or metal, but only 3 hours on absorbent surfaces such as paper, cardboard and textiles etc. On these they dry out and die๐Ÿ˜Š
Covid-19 is also here in Munichโ„๏ธโ˜น๏ธ
    Chin up Ron๐Ÿคž

Thanks for the photo - I had been puzzling what a J Cloth was, however here in Australia the same product is called "Chux" - same manufacturer. Certainly worth a try and thank you for the info. Would not cause the same itch as proper FG cloth. Another benefit.

What I am saying, because of self isolating, and being out of fibreglass a substitute had to be found from in the house. We are not buying things on line or bringing shipments into the house. Covid19 is in our community.

When my wife does go out to get groceries, we disinfect the boxes, fruit, cans, grocery bags too.

    Hi Ron,
I believe that 'the other' Martin (Westquay) and a few others on the site swear by J-Cloths as a cheap substitute for FG cloth. Might be more flexible than tulle!
I'm puzzled though why the damn virus is affecting supplies of fibreglass over there.
It's still easily available online here in Germany.

    Hi Ron,
I have also seen it done with cotton bandage.
Also i have used cotton and two part epoxy glue to hold rudder and shaft tubes.
You get an extremely strong fixing.

It snowed here today! Ice is still on the lake and pond, so it may take awhile before I can post some pictures of the launch.

Martin, your weather and temps the same here. It is either a gentle wet snow or nothing. The roads are wet but not snow covered like this morning.

When there is little to do, I build.

Snowed here Saturday night as well, fortunately it vanished in the sun in the morning.
Still only max 2ยฐC here today though, plus (or minus๐Ÿค”) wind chill factorโ›„

Very pleased with the deck colour and painted surfaces. The deck is Model Master Blue FS35414 and the cabin sides n trim Model Master Acrylic Earth Red #4707 which gives a Mahogany appearance, then finished off with a clear coat on the wood surfaces.

The large sailboat in the horizontal stand is an M-12 designed for sailing in weedy ponds. It is a pleasure to sail!

The red hulled sailboat in the background is my 2018 project a Wianno Senior. My first scratch built sailboat. I learned from making it, and added improvements to the building of the Folkboat.
