    Hi Bruce.
In the early part of the build you will not really need the fittings kit. I am a long way into this build and I cannot remember using much from this kit yet. I am well into the special functions kit though.

Day 2 had other priorities one was to find a easy way to clean top of hull after removing excess ABS with xacto knife. So I purchased a small Block plane from a local big box store ( Lowes) It worked great set it up to remove 1/32". there is a nice clean smooth edge.

I am quite a way along with this build. If you need specific help I will try my best to answer your questions.
The plans are not entirely correct and very often not good for scale. My first advice is check twice before gluing or drilling anything.

Krick has no parts and not expecting them to come in after the 15th of may. And they will only let me buy from supplier here in the USA Harbor models ( great supplier) and they can't get any either right now. I got most of my items through Cornwel models. I have been working thru Ebay with a supplier in Germany and ebay process is hard to work through. but think it's all worked out now (i hope).
Have been noticing the plans and instructions are kind of vague. there are not many dimensions on the plans on where the part sits on the boat. so will see how that goes.

Instructions are very vague. for this area. one short Paragraph on installing rudders. no dimensions for setting up Motor mounts, Water supply tube, Battery sets (3) Drawing are vague. No materials for building Battery Drive box. No suggestions on receiver, switches, ESC, my geared motors won't fit the mount bracket have to design a new motor mount. Prop shafts supplied require taking out and lubing each time had to order new stuffing box shafts. so waiting on them to arrive so I can install prop shafts and set up motor mounts.
This whole boat has no dimensions on it so it's going to be fun figuring out where exactly everything mounts. only demesion is how far prop shaft sticks out.
It's going to be a challenge but looking forward to working on it.
Will have to work on main deck to see where i can mount the batteries๐Ÿคž

Hi Bruce. I read somewhere that this model is challenging. I can confirm that this is indeed the case. I have found that if you remove all of the parts for a particular section and then carefully read the instructions placing parts as you go, all makes sense.

I was having problems getting rudder shafts to stay in place going thru the ABS hull with super epoxy for plastic bonding, also as soon as i put the epoxy on the brass, the Brass turned green with corrosion. so I stiffen up the mounts adding another bracket attached to the lower hull and used a CA thick then bedded the tubes in on both sides of the hull. hopefully this will work.
Added the Deck support both aft and forward, installed the the ribs for the rubber bumper. I was following tier directions using the spring clamps and that didn't fair to well supports were to thing and clamps kept popping of. I tried the masking tape and it worked great, it sped up the whole process.
Decided not to us the prop shafts supplied with the kit and ordered stuffing tube prop shafts, hopefully they will be here today, then I can install the motors.
I could use some suggestions on lay out for the batteries (5) 2 drive, 2 pump, 1 3 volt.. Trying to figure out how to put everything in and still have access to them once the decks are installed. Receivers, switches, etc.
    Thank you guys

I will use 3s LiPo batteries for the motors which will also supply the rx and servo power via the BEC output from the ESC.. Their power to weight/size ratio is very useful. I will decide on the 6 volt supply for the lights and the small motors later. The monitor pump will be operated by another 3s LiPo which will give me 11.1 volts.

there is only one pump but some have put bilge pumps in and others have put cooling pumps in for the motors one person used to for the monitors. I have 2 - 6 volt batteries hook in parallel so my battery doesn't wear down when using the monitors. the other batteries are 2 6 volt hooked in series for 12 Volts drive motors.

I must admit that as there seems to be a large amount of available space in the hull, I have not given much thought to fitting everything in yet. I am making the Krick Police Launch alongside this one and there is a lot less room here but I have managed to get a lot inside. As there are 16 channels required to run this model, I will ensure that I design the wiring soon and make up some looms like in a car.
Just a little question, what are the two pumps for. I only have one.

I have used Stabilit Express two part glue for the rudders, prop tubes and the trays. Bonds very well, water tight and relatively easy to use. A mask is required though as it is quite nasty smelling. It is also quite expensive.

Well i'm making headway have to read the instructions many times, but getting there. and waiting on electronics, paint, and other needed items to get here, mail order suppliers are overloaded, and taking up to a week just to ship something, ordering from China is taking from 4- 8 weeks. here in USA about 2 weeks. Only ones shipping fast is Cornwall models in England 4 total days and Harbor models here in USA 4 days.
These scissors are great for cutting ABS plastic and lexon plastic

    OK.
Here's an A4 pdf page of typical dials and front panels, displays.
Download it to your hard rive.
Open the file and use the Snipping Tool to snip out the pics you need.
Insert the Snip into whatever photo software you have and save as a new file.
Then you can scale it to suit, or use your printer scaling functions to print the size you need.
Probably give best results at about 600dpi on a light glossy photo paper.
    Happy snipping๐Ÿ˜Š

Being as this is my 2nd RC boat I think I may have to pass on changing it to new version. I would have to build a new boat, and crane that is articulated put an out board on it. along with I believe moving the monitor forward, anchor system. and building new items on the stern. I don't have a 3 D printer to build new crane. I love the Idea though.
Besides I,m an Air Force Flight engineer MSgt. and don't know a lot about building fire boats.
I would love to modify it to new version but I need to modify me 1st (Just too old) trying to figure out all this new electronics.
There is not many people here in Oregon building boats, they are more interest airplanes here. there is a lot more boat interest in England and Europe.
    Thanks for your input though

    Hi Bruce,
Your kit is of the 'as built' condition ca1975.
This gallery is as she is now from her 50th birthday celebrations ๐ŸŽˆ๐ŸŽˆ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ
More or less as she was 'rearranged' in 1980.
Dinghy has been updated and shifted to the foredeck to clear the stern for the tow-line.
Wheelhouse layout still looks fairly 'vintage'. Apart from the Electronic Chart System of course!๐Ÿ˜‰
Her sister 'Kรถln' is tied up alongside.
Two sample pics attached. happy detailing.

Had some issues getting 16 channels working. And with the monitors. Programming the turanus has been a nightmare. Installed a connector between the upper and lower deck. Control Switches for upper deck items, radar, nav lights, cabin lights search light, siren, flashing blue lights, sound system. Bilge pump, monitors, water pump. It's been a chore but I'm getting there. oh throttles work with the left stick and controls motors individually where one can be in forward and other in reverse for aid in docking or spinning the boat on the stern

    Hi Bruce.
I always use connectors for separating the wiring when removing the cabin but never thought of the water. Could you give me more information on the quick change connectors you show in your picture as I would like to do the same on my Dusseldorf.
    Thanks.
    Peter.

"it keeps talking about them being used on Lipo's"
Ignore that Bruce. The same principle applies to ANY battery chemistry.
Check the manufacturers description I posted! They just talk about 'batteries'.
But the consequences can be be significantly worse with LiPos of course.
Remember, the immediate danger is to the wiring!
If that overheats and starts to burn ....๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ˜ญ
I've said my piece. The choice is yours.
    Stay safe. Cheers, Doug ๐Ÿ˜Ž

If you're not a dab hand with the soldering iron the simplest way to connect two batteries in parallel and protect your boat (and what a helluva boat you've got there๐Ÿ‘) is one of these little jobs-

Seen spaghetti like this before! Underground on a winder I had a good sparky working for me then he numbered and coded all the wires took him about 2 shifts to run 60 alarm and sentry cables and not 1 mistake๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€ Don't find that sort anymore no pride in the artisans of today

"they are on totaly seperate systems and not connected to each other" ??
But you wrote 2- 6V connected in parallel Bruce!
That can be dangerous without the diodes.
Suggest you do a wiring recheck๐Ÿ˜‰

With protection diodes between them to prevent back charging I hope Bruce.
The last thing you need is a fire at Spaghetti Junction!

Not to mention the macaroni water toobs JB ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
Do you cook 'em al dente before bending to shape and allowing to cool?
I suppose for any adjustment needed you just pump hot water through them

Everything is labeled at both ends on what is does. there are 3 battery systems (one 12 (2-6V connected in series) one 6 volt system ( 2- 6V connected in parallel ) and one 4.6 volt battery) 3 water lines.
I thought there was going to be lots of room inside the hull when i was putting her together. There was not much help in the plans telling you how to connect everything, the drawings / instructions for the monitors was very confusing it took a lot of trial and error to get them working.
Iโ€™m still working on the boat winch trying to get it working.
Iโ€™m still working on her and hope to have her ready for the water next year in the spring.
