How do you make it so you can lift upper cabins off of tugs fire boats, to allow easy access to batteries and other parts of the boat.
What connectors do you use for upper decks (Water/ Electrical)
Do you install switches on outside of boat, what do you use where do you get them.
How do you secure the upper cabin to main deck?
    Thank you in advance
Such a great group of people

I am using 1/8 ID connectors on small boats, on the fire boat, i use 3/8" ID hose connectors.

I seem to recall ordering them from a distributor in Bellevue, Washington, Airtronics.

For water connections I used Colder Products quick connects. (with barb fittings)
The nicest ones were spring loaded, I could disconnect with one hand, just press the thumb button.
There are probably other industrial quick connects out there...

Very clever idea Bruce, just checked with Amazon UK,
and they do a twin pack, one male and one female
for ยฃ9.99 prime delivered Tuesday, thought that was a decent price.๐Ÿ˜€

Thank you good idea. I ordered one of these to try from amazon. it would be easier than soldering and would help keeping the leads straight

    Bruce1946,

Purely personal view - I tend to use cheap (a couple of ยฃ for 10) micro super neo magnets set into the upper deck(s), hull, lower decks with a foam seal to give extra water resistance. To electrically join upper and lower structures, I tend to use 9 or 18 way 'D' shell computer connectors - they're strong enough for repeated connection/disconnection and they are good for signal quality. You could also use cat5 cable plug and sockets. There are probably many more / better ways, but that's what I've used for multi connections and indeed if only one connecting wire is needed, they still work.

    Hi Bruce,
Wow! that is a lot of questions in one go.
You will get lots of different answers to these questions.
It depends on what you actually want to do with your model.

I understand that this is your second boat you are building.
So it would be easer to limit the questions to what you want to do as you get closer to that stage altho a bit of forward planning is important.

To answer all of these questions it would be like writing a book.
My self and other members will help you as much as possible i'm sure.

    Martin555.
