Hi Doug,
I hadn't thought of it! Don't know if I'll be doing both project at the same time! First I have to figure where the 3D printer will go! I'm out of space in my room! And Jenny will Kill me! If I put something outside of the room I'm in! So, Will have to move stuff around. To make space for the 3D printer! Cheers, Ed ▲

" It's the new thing to purchase!"
I've had one for over two years ED. Haven't even calibrated it yet๐ I take it you have the STL files for the research vessel? My intention was to use it to make fittings, especially when I need many of the same, rather than a whole ship. Suggest you start in a similar way; try some small parts or fittings for the ship first. Then the mistakes and filament waste should be smaller๐ค Will you be doing this parallel to the Lindberg kit? Whatever, have fun. Looking forward to the blog of your exploits๐ Cheers, Doug ๐ ▲

Hi Stephen,
My printer came with a 0.4mm print head! Yes, the bed is heated! It's set at 50 degrees Celsius! And the build is set at 200 degrees Celsius! I'm not sure what the Eiffel Tower was set at! But, it's a really bad print! And I haven't learned how to expand the builds yet! The connection to the computer is no good! I haven't been able to fix it! Something to do with the Plug and Play! Well in my experience of 3D printing... larger objects are risky when printing in high resolution (thinner layer heights). I tend to stick to 0.3mm if itโs a larger object. Was the Eiffel Tower printed with a lower resolution?
Also, it can be more reliable printing from the SD card too. When Iโve had it connected to my laptop... it cannnn crash half way. Various reasons, laptop going into standby, doing some kind of update, accidentally closing the lid, etc. And if it stops midway itโs never seamless to continue and often fails completely. Does yours have a heated build plate? Have you found it warps at the base at all? Stephen ▲

Aren't 3D printers fun...
As you have had a clog & cleared it with the wire tool, the chances are that your breaking filament is caused by... a clog. The tool only opens a small hole but the actual nozzle/hotend is likely to be full of filament and restricting the flow. As you didn't have the bowden tube locked in place(blue clip) it is likely that hot filament oozed out between the end of the tube & the nozzle. This will take a bit of patience to clear out. As a starter, I would do what is termed a "cold pull". Turn on the printer & select the pre-heat printhead for PLA (I assume you know where that is if you have levelled the bed), while it is warming up, remove the blue clip & unscrew the bowden connector. Once up to temp, pull the filament sharply out of the printhead. With luck you will not break it and will pull out a nasty lump of plastic on the end of the filament. Cut this off. If this worked then re-insert the connector, push the bowden tube right in, pull the wee bit up and put on the blue clip. Hopefully that works or you could be looking at taking the nozzle off for cleaning (done warm too). I also advise getting yourself a new SD card as the one supplied is junk and will cause issues with your prints. ▲
