Got hull of Ebay for ยฃ20, Vintage speed boat, 39.5in long and 12.5 wide originally produce by Kingston Mouldings.
Updates to this build may be random as I have other boats in progress.
Started this boat in the forum, but thought it would be better as a build blog.

Strip down the hull, prop shaft needs replacing and tube, think this boat will be a submerged propeller type, not sure to go straight or flexy.
The yellow block is the old IC engine mount, plus some wood for radio gear.
Two nice trimtabs, may reuse, or they will go in my bit box.

    Hi there shipmates,
I have changed me mind (or lost it) and have decided to go for it, and install twin motors, twin flexi drive with stingers.
one motor I have already, so purchased another:-
    Model: 3674
    Watts: 1800W
    4Poles 2250KV BL Brushless Motor
Have the two contra rotating flexi shafts (4mm) and props (38mm)
Ordered stingers via eBay went for the larger 70mm version.

Found this info on the old Kingston mouldings web page:-
'Cigarette 36' scale offshore powerboat hull 1005 (39.5inch) x 305mm - white, some other colours to order. =ยฃ90.00
All listed prices are for the standard colours white, grey or black, as listed with each hull above.
I can also mould hulls to order in a wide range of additional colours, at an additional cost per hull of ยฃ10.00. Any non-standard colours will usually add a week or two to the delivery time.
No plans available for the hull.'

The white boat (No11) has the closest superstructure, but even then not close enough, I think I may well have to rebuild the entire cabin and mod the deck to resemble boat No 11 or 333, 69, Copper kettle. Unfortunately the last 3 listed would require major work to the boat, I think I will stick to No11.

    Plan of stern found

The model is Length 39.5" x Beam 12.5" and is supposed to be a scale model of a cigarette 36 but it is not to scale.

    Cigarette36.
    It`s overall length is 11 meters or 432in .
Width of boat is 2.44 meters or 96in.
Now the model is Length 39.5" x Beam 12.5"
    432/39.5= 10.93
    96/12.5= 7.68
    scales do not match

After some research the nearest scale cigarette to it is a 26ft a cigarette hull with 2ft removed off a 28ft

    26ft x 12 =312 in
    8ft x12 = 96in

    312/39.5 = 7.89
    96/ 12.5 =7.68

The nearest superstructure to match the Model is that of the light blue Cigarette with a forward cabin but this is still not a good match.

    Hi there,
Filled some holes in the transom and where the old prop shaft, rudder and water scoop exited.
Looks like if it is to
be scale it can only be a non standard 26ft Cigarette, and it would require completely replacing the superstructure.

May give up on this idea, and keep the superstructure as is.

G'arn, go for the Copper Kettle CB๐Ÿ‘
Only major difference between her and #11 is the aft section.
Those massive exhaust pods on CK look good and the superstructure you got with the hull is junk anyway!

    Hard ware
I have used some of this hardware before on other boats but thought I would like to try dual stingers, will be ok for straight speed (not a class racing boat), will it turn, that is to be seen?
    :-
    2x 3674 2250 kv will run at 14.4v
    2x 150A esc
2x flexi drives one ccw one cw
    2x coupling
    2x stingers
    2x rudders
plus one pair of turn fins and props

    Has been done before.

Wholey transom, Batman (clue) had fun drilling holes in the reinforced transom, and as luck would have it, when I stuck the lump of wood in, I failed to see a small nut that was glued on the inside surface, from the previous installation.
So I was Drilling for gold, no I mean for the Hardware and I hit this beep beep nut trapped between the transom, had to drill it out by force through the ply reinforcement, a smell of burning wood and it was out.
Now have added filler to the area, and will re-drill when cured.

    Regards
    Roy

Looks like a great project , the artwork can be difficult to match, but your mate should be able to sort it.
The trouble with my hull is it is not to scale and the superstructure is non cigarette. It would take a lot of work to get it right, so I am going in a different direction with this hull it should be fun.

I am about to start a 39" Dry Martini Offshore vintage project. Had the stuff for 20 years but life got in the way of it.
Got an SC .61 going in it with Prestwich Models surface drive hardware and tabs.

Mate of mine has a sign shop with a vinyl printer/cutter so he's going to be busy making all the decals for me.

Holey transom, Batman (clue) next problem with the transom is that it is inclined and not square with the hull bottom.
so pads made for the stingers to bring them square at the transom.
Ideally they should nominally be set at 1 degree down into the water. and adjusted according to the characteristics of the hull's planning at speed.
Will also need to add pads for the rudders and trim tabs!

    Hi Newby7,
I do not how to build a cigarette boat just basic RC speedboat theory. a Cigarette boat as per picture has twin props close together near the lowest part of the hull normally inboard/z drives or outboards.
There is a problem with this configuration in that when cornering a mono hull leans over onto one chine and one prop may come out of the water.
Luckily you will not have this problem with you single propeller IC engine.
As I cannot afford a model z dive so I settled for a pair of stingers ยฃ9 each and electric motors (as many places do not allow IC engines) When you put in your drive train have a word with Prestwich for advice about surface/ subsurface drives, straight or flexi drives and recommended props.

see pdf of mono setup it may be of interest!

This is a fast well setup Cigarette boat video

It's good you have a grasp of how to build the cigarette boat .I would be lost at just trying to get started let alone figuring our the transom angle trim tabs and rudders .I look to keep reading as I may understand what you are doing.
