The props & motor installation Are turning out to be a little time consuming . Had to make the motor clamps so that they could be removed used a 1/4-20 brass screw & a insert so that top portion can be taken off hope club members aren't mad at me for taking on the project .

Hi Nerys .. no the hull was built by club members from the plans over several months time on saturdays roughly monthly (scratch built) ... about an average of ten members per session helping .. there is supposed to be a draw to see who gets in when the time comes .. Garth has volunteered to work on installing shafts, props etc .. covid 19 has made it to difficult to get together to finish the project .. also only a little work gets done at a session (about 2-3 hours at a time) hull was fiberglassed after building it .. should be a great model when finished ..brokey

An interesting project, I take it the hull was provided by the club and there are a number of members building their own versions of the boat. A good looking boat that should perform well, I imagine a lot of people will follow your build with interest.

Will be pleased to follow your build, a blog does add so much more interest to a project. But it also helps you keep sane as you say and absorbs the mind to the exclusion of everything else. (My wife says!)

Hi Garth,
Can it be that you have two identical left hand props there? Was that intentional or just what was in the bits box? I would have expected one LH and one RH to even out the torque roll effect. Cheers, Doug ๐ ▲

Hi Garth,
I have been on the dark side for many years as i use a lot of plastic from Ice cream tubs and Yogurt pots in my builds. Martin555. ▲

" using Styrene your going to the dark side"
Welcome to the backside of the moon Garth๐ DON'T PANIC!! Just take it steady, use sharp craft knives, fine files and abrasives and DO NOT use any glue or filler that generates heat!! Apart from that it's a doddle. Didn't you ever build any Aurora or Revell kits as a kiddywinky? Same stuff๐ Bon chance mon ami. Cheers, Doug ๐ ▲

The motor mounts are designed by a fellow in the model boat club first name Doug but I think he wouldn't want his name published he's very shy .Great idea but there was a lot of changes required to line motors up to prop shafts & I also had to find a way to hold motors in place & make a way to remove from the motor stand if either motor failed some day

Nice seats Garth, I shouldn't worry about being hard to sit on, I had a friend who was a Trinity House Pilot here in Felixstowe/Harwich and he had plenty of his own padding. He once fell off the back of a container ship into the prop wash but survived. A lovely lovely man with it. Is nice to hear about your vaccination programme, in UK we are so wrapped up in our own problems that we have stopped getting news about the dilemma around the world. Hope it all goes well for you. Regards Geoff.
