Lovely job Rick, I like the attention to detail like the deck cargo and the wheelhouse interior, but where's the skipper's cup of tea?
Cheers, Nerys ▲

Hi Rick,
Yes you are on the right track, a potentiometer is a resistive device, so it isn't sensitive to voltage polarity. You would have the positive on one end of the pot and the negative (0V) on the other, the wiper (normally the center pin) would give you a varying voltage between the positive and negative, hope this helps. Hi Rick,
Happy to help reduce your unintended smoke production if I can. Using a pot connected directly to a fan is not likely to work without burnout unless it is a very small fan, and a heavy duty, wire wound pot (rare and expensive these days). You need to use an adjustable voltage regulator where the pot adjusts the regulator, and the regulator powers the fan. I’d need more information to be able to help with the cause of any of your other unintended smoke. Graham93 ▲

Hi Rick, check out the discussions tab and look on p2 and search for smoker, - might be of help. You will see some of the stuff Graham and I did on smoke making, using e-cigs as a base. Cheapest way of doing it, all you need is a cheap $3 e-pen, 2x $1.50 voltage bucks (one for the e cig and 1 for the air pump) an air pump and a remote switch to turn it all on. You will only need a 2s Lipo to power them. I used one method and Graham used another slightly fancier method. Also search for smokers in the media section to see the results.
