Thanks Rod. I'm afraid to say that I haven't been working on the Smit Rotterdam for several months now. My other hobby of flying and building RC model aircraft has taken preferance at the moment. The Smit Rotterdam has been sidelined while I build a 1/6th scale WW2 P47D Thunderbolt. Thanks for your comment.

Only a novice but i have to say she is just beautiful.

Thanks for your comment AllenA. I'm afraid she is a long drawn out build (quite a few years so far in fact !) Other projects on
the building table keep getting in the way. 😎

I used to hate doing stanchions and railings. Do you use a jig to make the stanchions?
Response by sandkb on the 15th Mar 2017
Hi Dave,
No I didn't make the scale 1/78th brass Stanchions. They are available from Billings Boats.

I have been away from this site for quite some time, I have just seen the SMIT OCEAN TUG. What an absolute work of superior craftsmanship, your attention to detail is amazing, sorry I gone on too long. Outstanding effort👍
Response by sandkb on the 12th Jul 2017
Thanks for that Greybeard !! I've not made anymore progress on my Smit Rotterdam for the past few months as I currently have a WW2 P47d ThunderBolt Airplane on my building table at the moment. Once I've built that I will be back on the Smit. 😁😎

Thanks
We have a site member in the Phillipines who is looking to source modelling supplies. He doesn't want to use the UK as he is hit with punitive import charges. As he is in your part of the hemisphere I suspect he may be able to buy more locally but has not been able to find suppliers. Any suggestions?
Dave
Response by sandkb on the 15th Mar 2017
Re your query re the Pilipino wanting to source modelling supplies. Unfortunately our local store where I purchased the Preiser models has closed his business. There are a couple of online suppliers in his region that I use for bits and pieces that he could try. "Hobby King" and "Singapore Hobbies" failing that he could Google in the item he is after by name and I'm sure he will come up with some answers.

Thanks for that I will pm him and pass on the info. Our local model shop closed last month
