Too right Doug, suits our No 8 wire technology attitude down to the ground. I believe we are known round the world for it ? I was working on Norfolk Island (South Pacific) as maint manager of the largest hotel there in the 70s and put up a a temporary aerial for an American guest who was a Patent Attorney and Ham operator, and carried his Yaesu round the world with him on holidays. He managed to connect with a guy in the states just around the corner from his place in SF, (which was amazing enough) and was telling him about the aerial. He allowed me to talk to this guy for a sec, and one of the first things he said to me was, I've heard you Kiwis can make anything with No 8 wire and a piece of wood" Cracked me up that he knew of that story and he'd never been to NZ! PS Oamaru is way down the East coast of the Sth Island, about 600miles away so unfortunately have not been yet.

    Dual ESC & Mixer
I have 2 of the Action-Electronics P94’s and they work great, a neat package containing 2 20amp ESC’s and a rudder mixer, problem is there so erratic in their availability, anyone aware of an alternative? I’ve used separate ESC’s and a forge electronics mixer, works but not as neat...

Hi Sidley, Glad I could help resolve the mystery 😊 Clue was the most unusual structure of the foredeck. I'm pretty certain that this 'one off' never ever wore the number 1258! I've not seen any other versions with this foredeck structure. Which of course doesn't necessarily mean they didn't exist! I can only assume that the model builder used the Pennant number 1258 from sheer nostalgia for a boat he may have served on, but 1258 sure wasn't built like the model you have. Whatever, have great fun sailing her, post some pics / videos when she's finished please πŸ‘ All the best, Doug 😎

    Pond Weed
try dyofix lake shadow it's a concentrated food dye will not harm anything living in the pond except the weed we contacted one of the weed clearance company's would have cost Β£1000 just for them to come and look they told us to use it as most of the large golf clubs do if you look on their website there is a calculator to tell you how much to put in but I think you can only buy it by the kilo if you get any on cloths it will wash out as I have done it several times

    Hints and Tips.
I like your tip, it reminded me of the way I have used cycle spokes as drive shafts, the spoke nuts are usually plated brass so can be used in brass props by drilling out then silver solder the nut into the prop after removing the plating. Cheers Colin.

    Wee Nip, Ruf Red
Wee Nip, Ruf Red. Donated to me by a friend. Radio; frsky telemetry, battery voltage, Hitec sail winch. She sails well and is quite enjoyable, even I my unskilled hands.
Small scratch built static model of a Schooner made quite a few years ago. Length 6" Height 51/2" Beam 1" I made this when I was in between projects.
    34" Crash Tender
Here is my Crash Tender together with the homemade 27MHz transmitter. Built in the early 1970s. The collage photo is from 45 years ago, sailing on the boating lake in Llanfairfechan, North Wales. Recently rescued from the garage covered in dust. Diesel replaced with brushless motor and on the water again. Now in dry dock for a major refit!
Built from Mountfleet kit. Chain drive operates Rudder . Puffer sound, whistle, smoke generator, working lights Navigation and interior also flickering orange and red for boiler fire.all switched from transmitter.
    The Scout
Lovely boat under going major refit.
    3660kv speed boat
Well I purchased a hugely powerful brushless motor, (before I realised it was over the top!) so paired it up with something that might handle it!, 4ft long, fibreglass hull, 150amp esc, first water trials sucked a 12v 5amp (what I had at the time) dry in 4 minutes! Put an ammeter on it and it’s drawing 40amps! It’s all trial and error and learning on the way!

Harbour Master, my first experiment with sensored brushless motors, ultra quiet and smooth very successful
