Tamiya Tape! - Posted: 25th May 2018
Well the Tamiya Tape arrived! Now I can go ahead and fix the waterline on the Brooklyn! There's some over spray I have to tidy up. Once I'm done with that. on to the Deck and Deck hardware!

The Tamiya tape is great stuff to work with.I use it all the time.
Just make sure you keep a constant pressure on it.Don't pull on it too hard.It does take curves depending on the width of the tape.
Enjoy marking your waterline.
Response by figtree7nts on the 25th May 2018
Thanks, for the input won't pull on it too hard!
I got the 6mm and 40mm for now! I got the 6mm to help me make the turn on aft of the hull! Here goes nothing!

Forward H Bitt & Aft H Bitt! - Posted: 24th May 2018
I assembled the forward & aft H Bitts also painted them!
They are a bit flimsy. But once glued to the deck.
They become stronger!
The deck is black from over spray. I will be painting the deck tan or a good shade of wood! The deck has tape all over it! So, I won't have to prime the deck!

TX and spare batts - check,
Camcorder (batt fully charged) - check,
Drying cloth - check,

Bath towel if I have to swim again - 😡
Inflatable rescue kayak - !?
Essential provisions (just a wee dram Officer) 😋 - check,

Might stick the PTB in the car as well, just to try it before I start on the reno and upgrade / conversion to PT109. In for a penny .....!

Stem Post & Bollards! - Posted: 21st May 2018
Finally, it's a sunny day here!
I decided to spray the Stem Post & Bollards!
I'm using Olive Drab instead of black.
I think it will give good contrast to my build!
I have to build up the forward and Aft H bitts as well.

That colour will give a nice contrast to the colours you have chosen for the Brooklyn.I have been waiting for your next post.Nice to have the weather cooperate for you to continue with the build.
Response by figtree7nts on the 21st May 2018
Hi Donnieboy,

I'm going to paint the superstructure.
90 Beige Green Matt - 150ml Acrylic Spray Paint.
by Humbrol #AD6090!
This will help for the Tug to stand out on the ponds!
With olive drab for contrast!
But I'm taking my time with the project.

Because I may also be going to put deck light. and running lights as well!
Response by Donnieboy on the 21st May 2018
That will be nice to see.I would go with the deck light and running lights. If it turns out to be a beautiful day you may want to run until dusk.

Tamiya Tape! - Posted: 21st May 2018
I've placed an order for some Tamiya tape.
As Doug, RNinMunich recommended!
Trying to cleanup the waterline on the Brooklyn!

Oh, Had to order a new battery pack. for my wireless Dremel also!

Does anyone know of a good electronics place one can order resisters from?
Response by kmbcsecretary on the 21st May 2018
If it's the resistors for LED's then I would highly recommend components, very good price and prompt delivery.
Response by RNinMunich on the 21st May 2018
Hi Ron,
don't worry👍 I already sent Ed some wiring diagrams with resistor calcs for his LED circuits and links to resistor sources in the US.
BTW: I assume you meant Component Shop, or maybe RS Components? Otherwise just 'components' could mean anything / anywhere, especially to Ed who is in USA! Thanks for responding anyway👍
Cheers Doug 😎

Finally a Waterline! - Posted: 8th May 2018
Brooklyn now has a waterline!
You can't see it in the picture.
but my masking tape bled in some area's.
Just a few minor correction needed!

I'm thinking of putting white pin striping!
On the waterline. what do you think?

Attached Photos - Click To View Large

Response by Donnieboy on the 8th May 2018
I have used white pinstriping before.Plus I have used other colours too.Make sure to stick it down good.I first used my fingers then after the tape is on to my liking I used a burnishing stick. One thing I forgot to mention is start your tape at the halfway point on the stern then go around the bow and meet back at the stern. The pinstriping I have used is either the car striping or the one that is used for the model airplanes.
Response by RNinMunich on the 8th May 2018
Go for it Ed 👍
BTW: recommend Tamiya modelling masking tape to avoid bleeding.
Gives a good sharp edge.

Red Oxide Primer! - Posted: 21st Apr 2018
I went to the local autoparts store.
Looking for ruby red primer!
I was lucky to find Red Oxide Primer.
Tomorrow if it's not windy.
I'll paint the top half of the hull!

This time I hope. I paint the right part of the hull!

Oh, I had gotten a can of flat black.
But it turned out to be kind of like a satin black.
It had a bit of a shine to it! I didn't like it!
Not what I wanted. But I found what I was looking for.
A nice looking Black with NO shine to it at all!

I still have some Craig and Rose red oxide primer (Forth bridge red). Craig and Rose were the company who made the paint for the iconic Forth rail bridge ,you have to thin it down a lot to spray. Cheers Marky

Steam Generator! - Posted: 21st Apr 2018
I had a steam generator. that Steve "Cormorant" was so kind to help me obtain! After looking it over. I decided against using it. Because it was gravity fed! And I didn't want to run into a problem. With the lack of air flow. So I decided to order the only Steam Generator. I've seen here in the states!
It's by Harbor Models in California!

Here is a YouTube example of it working!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQT5-g9wm7s&feature=youtu.be

Thanks, for everything Steve! 👍

Thanks, Donnieboy!
Yes, I believe it'll make the Tug Brooklyn.
Look very realistic, especially from a distance!
