You might search for some of the figures for 1/10 scale RC vehicles. Some don't look too bad. Fill in the joints after posing, sand, and paint. One photo shows some of the 1/10 figures available. The other photo is the mod I made to one of the Bruder figures, a smaller scale, but it show these can be modified.

It beats having an open cockpit boat running loose with no one on board!

There is a firm called Modelu based in Bristol who 3D print figures. Not the cheapest but excellent quality. If you get in touch with Alan Buttler I am sure he could sort something out for you.
