Hello Roy and I repeat it would be no contest with the additional sail and it being well balanced with additional weight below she will be far quicker than the standard Bella which our two are. Maybe another job to add to the list then the other half will be following me ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ
Sorry the Pool of London is just my favourite showing off photo, I was asked to skipper an old fishing boat from Maldon to Tower Bridge for the avenue of sail at HRH Jubilee. Best weekend of my life, trip back to Maldon was exciting too.
    Regards ChrisG

Hi Chris with the background of the 'Pool of London' I thought you might be nearer!

I was worried the keel was of not sufficient strength so I fattened her up with bass wood cheeks each about 3/16ths so total width of keel is half an inch. This has been taken to an aerofoil section, it puts a littlle more lead in the keel part, filling up the gaps, but seems to equal out the slightly larger displacement and stay on the same waterline.
Because the centre of effort is much lower now I have an extra 40 % more sail area, spins on a sixpence!
    regards
    Roy

I dont think it was but your conversion but is an equally lovely yacht, I fear my Saffron (a Bella) would not be much competition for your Pelican but it would good to put it to the test. Shame Watford is so far from Nottingham.
We could have a right old race, my partner built Poppy (a Bella) alongside me building mine and our duels usually end up with me buying the drinks as regular 2nd place man.
    Keep in touch regards ChrisG
