As Stephen T said last week, make the puzzle port without using the clue. I looked at the 4 spaces and knew what the answer would be before clicking on the clue

Hi all, I was reading about AI and o/p, apparently it does get confused and imagines things. It is common enough for it to have a title, it's called Hallucination!
Dream on baby, just don't trim my lawn.

I had to look up the connection:
An EDGER in Marine world is a hand tool used for trimming and flattening seams in sailmaking. I just use my finger a really sharp box cutter, a fine point 40W soldering iron or a flat iron

I got there but the connection escapes me! With 5 word wordles I start with AISLE. I do not attempt 8 or more ones as I cant think of successive words during the puzzle. Any tips anyone?

A hot cup of tea has more effect on me than iced tea or a long cool drink. It was very pleasant sitting in a gentle breeze in the garden for 20 minutes as well. The gradually cooled shower was great and I went straight off to sleep for 4 hours, but then decided a little longer might be beneficial as well!

I don’t understand why you would brew some tea if you were trying to cool off? I would understand if you were making Ice Tea but not a cuppa☕️😥

It is very hot here in Watford, I could not sleep, it was 2 o/clock, I gave up and got up made some tea. I answered the Q o D and found 4 others had already answered the question! So it was not just me? Or do we have a lot of late to bed members?
I have got used to just 6 hours sleep and a doze after lunch.
So model boat building tends to be an early morning session and another in the evening mixed up with the usual planned events and daily unexpected crises.
I am working on a small fishing boat bought on the auction bay partly spoilt by the previous owner. I have nearly got over the errors in construction but I am hopeful.

My next task is to insert a prop tube and drive is by an old servo motor. I mean really old when they were rather bigger than now and I used to remove the motors before disposing of the broken bits. I will let all know if the motor performs, when she gets in the water.

Finished my tea I will have a cold shower and try for sleep again.

Spot on Roy, the vortices relating to a prop in a nozzle are tip and hub vortices

Why not leave it as it is, you are not forced to use the clue

why not make the puzzle port word of the day without clue

I think the key part of the question and answer was 'wake'

With the Kelvin question it said it was about ship dynamics and apart from the spiral whatsits in the prop, only one answer mentioned a ship.
So you did not have to know the answer beforehand.

I think and have always thought that people look up the answers - even professional seaman don't get it right all the time so I don't think people that only just do models stand a chance of being consistently in the 100% bracket.
Having said that since the new board layout has been introduced the QoD questions have got considerable easier

Maybe some of the 100% happen to look up some of the answers?, or maybe they are just clever. I avoid looking anything up, which is why I am not 100%, and I am certainly not that clever.

The number of people scoring 100% is creeping up - about time we had some harder questions !!

I was doing so well, then a sailing ship question gets me again.
I know nothing about these ships/boats. Whether they be big ones or small ones.
So I take a stab at a answer and get it wrong.
It's like the question master knows I am doing well then slips in a sailng question and tricks me.

No Pat, You are right. Look at the number of 100% correct answers now compared to a couple of months ago. There was only 2 or 3 100% correct then

@roycv you should be able to simply click on the messages that show unread, might need to scroll down to see unread older ones if you have quite a few private messages.

@TonyAsh Hi Tony. You can access past questions in the new system. It is not obvious. There is a previous button at the top. I have done it and did work.

@TonyAsh I just tried by clicking previous at the top of question of the day and it works with no issues
