As Zdenek says, you can get a set of effectively any of the original Fairey boats form Charles Lawrence, there is a General Assembly drawing and a Hull Lines drawing. Some of the Hull Lines drawings have been prepared by Alan Burnett for modellers in the past.

They look to me like they are scans of original drawings to myself.

If people wonder why they are at 1 : 12 scale, simples the originals way back in the 1960's when some of them were drawn, in the days when we used 'real' measurements. They are 1 inch = 1 foot (2.54 mm = 304.8 mm)

Yes, you can get a copy of the original drawings and model lines but you will still have to draw up all the bulkheads, keel etc. and decide on how you are going to construct the superstructure.

Fine if you can do it, but if you just want to get on with building it, get the plans already available.

Tony, according to my latest "investigation", there is also a possibility of purchasing a modellers set of plans form The Fairey Owners’ Club. The plan is at a scale of 1:12 and it is a copy of the original Fairey drawings. Two sheets show the plan, long section and cross sections.

big-tone - even if the kits do have a plan, like most kits it will probably only have a top view and side elevation. There won't be any templates for the various parts.

If I was you I'd get a copy of the 31" version and scale it up. Being as they are drawings for scratch building they have all the information required and you aren't having to enlarge them that much.

Hi Trevor I was told the kits only have a build manual no plan but if you have one for a 46 that would be great
.so far all I have found are plans for the smaller 31inch version.i can do copies at work if that would be easier I would pay postage do copy and return if you fin

I have 2 unmade Huntsman 46" kits ,and am sure there should be a plan in at least one of them . Will get a price to have the plan copied if you are still interred . Trevor.

As far as the articles in MB 2016 are concerned, they were "just" a support for those who decide to buy the plan or an attraction for those interested in. As mentioned above, the article is very helpful.
I have decided to for a build as well, when I've read the articles. I had a chance to enlarge the original by 1,5, approximately. I did it because my intention was to use and modify a plastic hull I've had at home. it's dimensions were the scale factor... After some work I've realized the enormous extent of changes necesary and switched to a scratch build... Being very slow builder, it is still in progress, hull almost ready, waiting for the deck, spray rails and started the preparation of parts for the cabin.

Big Tone - what you have sounds like a Huntsman built from the Precedent kit.

Plans are sometimes on EBay for the drawings for other kits but I've never seen any for the Precedent. But be wary of the EBay offerings - I've bought drawings and the templates have been very poorly traced/drawn and are almost useless and I've had to redraw them.

But as regards the Precedent I have one, bought already built and done pretty well so if you want any photos let me know.

thanks for the info will take a look see if I can get the back issue. mine is a 46 inch refurb I picked on ebay going to strip back and bring back to former glory as its about 50 years old I was told

Model Boats magazine January 2016 ncluded a free plan of a Huntsman 31 complete with photos and a step by step build guide. Unfortunately the model is 24". I also wanted a bigger model so I redrew the plan double size. it wasn't too difficult and only took a couple of evenings with a some lining paper from B&Q and a calculator and voila! At the moment I am planking the roof of the cabins and trying to decide between a brushless motor and an old Weston rare earth brushed motor I used to use for fast electrics. The article in MB also ran into February 2016 where all the fiddly finishing bits were described, also with many photos.
I expect one can obtain back issues from their web site. Anyone interested in Huntsmen should get these two issues for the detail alone.
