Colin, This is a subject on which we are in perfect agreement. We both have exceptional wives. My Alice will try her hand at anything. She is an excellent carpenter, shed builder, electrician, radio mechanic, does the RC bits on my models and helps me out in any modelling job where a bit more stamina than I can manage is called for. Since my health failed she looks after me as well as she possibly can, runs me back and fore to the hospital three times a week. She has taken on all cooking, which I used to do and is really proving her abilty in that field. Colin and I are both extremely lucky. Alices and Carolines are very rare.

Good evening all,
As I'm stuck here (legless for now) I have been trying to get to grips with the construction, but it is far more complex than the aerokits version.
A lot of the parts are totally different, even though they make the same boats.
I managed to get my aerokits build sketches and compare with this boat, but no help at all.
Must try and locate a genuine set of pictures and plans.
SO IF ANYONE HAS A SET PLEASE COULD YOU LET ME KNOW.
Even pictures of the finished boat would help.
It appears that the whole cabin areas lift off in one piece, great for access, but without the plans almost, only almost impossible to build.
Although the part built framework is very solid it was not very well put together so I will have to adapt it the best I can.

As far as I know Norstar just closed but the Aerokit Designs are with SLEC the 34.5" Forefloat was part of Aerokits Range. Maybe just a "Badge Engineered" Kit

I may start sorting out what is needed for this one while I'm waiting for my sea commanders windows and frames.
Most of what it needs in the way of deck fittings and lights, I think should be in my stock boxes, I will have to make the folding mast as I did on my old one.
I did a quick measure of the windows and they seem to be almost the same as the original aerokits version.
I may even spend some money on a new motor and esc.
I know its already started but it's still a new build to me, the first new build in 50 years. I just hope that my arthritis won't hinder me too much.
I am really looking forward to starting it.

That looks to be in really good condition considering its been in a loft for some years but luckily its come to a good home for a little TLC.
Sounds like Mrs H has a good idea for your original firefloat once the shows get going again. Be good to see progress on this one but presume you'll be finishing your other project first?

Well folks here is the model as found. It seems like it is all here, the parts list and unused pieces tally up with what has already been done.
The 5 page build instructions are fairly easy to understand. But the plans are missing, the ladies son in law has searched their attic but couldn't find anything else to do with the model. Also no other modelling items, and no one knows where or when this model came from.
So now I am in need of a set of plans, if anyone has a set I would be happy to pay for a copy.
Small section of wood is missing (broken away) but easy to replace.
Will see if it matches my early aerokits plans.
The challenge begins , also the wife says I should retire my original firefloat (keep for shows only) and build and use this one.

It's not unlike the present day kit from Aerokits, be interesting to compare when you have it. It's your sort of thing anyway. Expect you'll enjoy working on it.
