Bassett Lowke sold Bing stuff in the UK from about 1930. The 2nd World War and the anti Germanic feelings at the time cased Bassett Lowke to stop importing Bing and Trix for the duration of the war. The train sets were marked Bassett Lowke.

Sorry to hear you are having knee and arm problems Colin and have had medical problems for the last fifteen years. Pleased that you can still drive albeit an automatic. I bemoan my fate and lack of mobility., but it has only been the last two years. One good thing though, we both still have our marbles!

Yes Doug, working around personal ailments has been my life since 2005 when I was forced into medical retirement. But I just try to get on with life.
It was the reg trade mark that fixed it, and that mark was short lived. 1924 to 1933.
I would love to see that museum, but I doubt I'll have the chance.
But as I said before, if we don't share our knowledge then we don't learn.

I ain't driving nowhere at the moment, car's in the shop getting it's snout straightened.
Bent last week by a lady, hurrying to a bus apparently, appearing out of the dark, dressed all in black(!) and crashing into my right front wing. Somewhat traumatic experience, but getting back on an even keel now.

You and your mates were spot on. Mark's engine is seemingly certain a Bing.
Made by the Brothers Bing (not Grimm!😮) probably in the 1930s.
They continued on producing until 1945 apparently. Not sure what they actually made during WW2 though.

Your welcome Marky, knowledge is for sharing so we all can learn.
I have a problem right knee at present so am driving with my left foot, luckily my car is automatic.
And my left arm below the elbow doesn't always work due to a prolapsed vertebrae trapping a nerve.
But life goes on and we learn to live with our faulty bits.

Also feeling a lot better thanks ,just got in from the hospital sat down for a cuppa and when I tried to stand my right leg wouldn't work ,thank goodness it didn't happen when I was driving .was taken back into hospital for scans etc. everything started working again a couple of days later they thought it might have been the tumor just trapping something and the physio had helped sort out the problem ,they are now working to shrink the tumor.

Thanks Colin, In South Africa we don't have lofts but I am fortunate enough to have a workshop the size of a double garage. They broke through a wall!
When Marky first posted this I thought Bassett Lowke due to their connection with Bing. I have a large book from New Cavendish on The Bassett Lowke story fortunately one of my friends has borrowed it as it was a limited print book

Sorry to hear that shipmate, should have used the bolts from your avatar to secure the workshop.
I'm fortunate enough to be able to keep most of my research books in our attic.
But most of my steam knowledge comes from friends in local steam group.

Well Marky, hope your feeling better, your pictures confirmed my original thoughts, its definitely a Bing. And that trade mark is from 1924 to 1933.
Well worth restoring ,has a basic auction value of around £175 to £225 if working.
