Thanks for that JB. I have read up on the NZ Scows, actually they are not unlike the American Scows. Thanks also for all the information on restoration of scows It's a pity we tend to ignore the sailing craft of other countries as there is a lot we can learn. I have also seen a model of one built by Dave Watts, who as Mastman produces model Barge Hulls and a wide range of bits and pieces. He wrote about the build in the facebook page of AMBO, Association of Model Barge Owners. The model was upwards of 30" in length and he told me that her sailing capabilities were much like his model Thames Barges.
