MT, we bought our Cricut Maker when they first came out after seeing a demonstration in our local hobbycraft store.
It's great for cutting all sorts of materials but limited on thicker plastic or polycarbonate. Up to 1.0mm thick It's fine, but thicker ones it struggles.
Have managed to cut light ply and veneers up to 1.2mm thick.
It excells on vynils for graphics and lettering.
My only gripe would be the lack of drawing software. But if you have a decent cad program it is quite easy to use.
Look it up on the Web and watch it in action. Personally I would prefer a desktop laser, but price prohibitive.
All in all its good, but could be better, the newer models recently launched may have improved.
