Managed to get one of these sanders from Lidl on Sunday, all for less than £30😊 Thanks for the info Robbob, totally agree that it is a good buy for the money, 👍just got to get a wooden boat to try it out.
I bought one tonight. I find that when running there is a strong 'electrical' smell. My partner says that it is the brushes arcing. Is this normal? Apart from that it looks a useful tool
When the winds before the rain, soon you may make sail again, but when the rain's before the wind, tops'l sheets and halyards mind
word of caution, captive nut that holds the front guide on tends to work loose after changing the discs a few times nothing a bit of super glue can't solve
I dont use Lidl much, but Aldi seem do all the sandpaper and bits for their tools such as belt sanders WHEN they sell the tools. Maybe Lidl do the same.
I'm still using the same disk that I put on when I bought the sander this time last year with very little sign of wear from the shaping of balsa, beech and ply (and occasionally brass rod !!), they do seem to last a good while 👍👍 I bought an extra set of disks at the same time too so at this rate they'll outlast me 😜

The "OZONE" smell is as partner said ,at least in part. As they bed in they arc a little and burn off any oil on the commutator. Very common on model trains. It will settle down with use.👍
Sadly, we don't have a Lidl in town. The nearest is about 12 miles away, so it looks like I won't manage to get one of these. I will have to watch for a similar item from Aldi. Cheers all, Dave W 😊
Good idea Colin but you don't get the discount offers on line. Re the discs left over stock is sold off for buttons. Keep your eyes open for them. Look on the reduced table(s)👍👍
I was so impressed by all the posts the I trotted off to my local store and bought one. Construction is pretty good and the performance is more than adequate. Well spotted that man.😊
So glad I read these forums, got my bargain sander from lidl the other day to replace the one I GAVE AWAY when moving house. Won't make that mistake again. 👍
