'Thumbs Down' emoticon; I agree John. I asked Stephen about that months ago but never got an answer.🤔 Are these the accents you want? 😉âáà êéè îíì ôóò ûúù You have to find the so-called 'Dead keys' on your particular keyboard. On my German '"QWERTZ" keyboard they are at the left and right ends of the top row - the numbers row. Press one of the dead keys and then the letter key and and accent is applied to the letter. The keys are marked ^, °, ´, and `.
I think on most mobile phone keypads if you press the letter key longer (Android), or several times quickly (other systems?) it will apply an accent to the letter. You'll have to experiment😉 Re Standardised keyboards; Whose standard or language?? https://www.wikiwand.com/en/QWERTY https://www.wikiwand.com/en/British_and_American_keyboards This is what I work with https://www.wikiwand.com/en/German_keyboard_layout Have to switch it to QWERTY if I want things like pound signs🤔 £ appears instead of mz normal dollar sign, but now zou see that z and y have been switched around as well! Now to switch back! Dat's better😉 Cheers, Doug BTW Señor! If you have several language dictionaries installed on your PC (as I have) you can also do things like Señor by typing it in 'English and then switching to French. The Spell checker will then underline it as 'wrong'. Right click on the underlined word and it should offer you the correct spelling with accent 😊 Re Umbra, we Big ol Softies already discussed such losses! 😭
Young at heart - slightly older in other places 😉 Cheers Doug
On an iPhone you can go to settings, general, keyboard and then add another language. A ‘globe’icom then appears at the bottom of the key board allowing you to switch between languages
Yep we did Doug This Circumflex is all I can find ^ and no dead keys.Yes I can type a word then ask for it's translation but I speak French and some Italian,Spanish and German so don't need to for the most part. It might work if I type in the word minus accents and see if it corrects itself but I doubt it Yes those accents would be useful. Changing languages is a faff and by the time I get it on I've lost the posting.Hardly worth the hassle. Hrrmph!😭 Never mind Eh! as Bootsie used to say.👍
Hi John, I can only show you the way ...... ê! (^ then e immediately afterwards😊) I also speak reasonable English😉 but spell checker helps pick up the typos and bloopers before I hit the Send / Post button. Brain gets ahead of the fingers most times 😲
Young at heart - slightly older in other places 😉 Cheers Doug
