I am looking to get my adult son a model RC yacht for Christmas. I have seen an Aura 650 RTR sailing boat, which includes everything needed. Is this a good idea, or are there better ones out there, similarly priced (ie £85). I don't really want to buy things separately and need to get it online. Thanks for your help.

Hi beez111
Welcome to the site.
Just had a look on the Howe's website and this looks like a good beginners model, and everything is included. For the price it is difficult to beat. There is some assembly of the rigging and this can prove testing if your son has little model yacht experience. That said there are many model yachts sailing that have been successfully built by novice modellers, and there is lots of free advice on this site 😀
Is he an existing modeller, and does he belong to a club? Yachts require relatively deep water in which to sail so it is helpful if there is a local model boat club with sailing waters. This yacht has a smaller keel than some of the dearer offerings so should be suitable for most waters. There is list of model boat clubs on this site so you can check and see if there are any locally to your son.
Howe's are very helpful when you ring and will answer any further questions you may have.
I hope this helps and your son gets his yacht.
Dave 😀

Thanks for your reply. I have ordered the boat. I will tell him about this website, so if he has any problems he can get advice.
