    For a 'bit of a laff' :-)
Not quite 'dyke sheep', but on King Island in Bass Strait (between the Australian mainland and Tasmania) the saying is that 'when the wind stops blowing, the cows fall over'.๐Ÿคฃ

    Sea rover cabin cruiser
Hi Schmango, as already said, I have no experience with fast motorboats, but I was firmly convinced that the problem was only in the number of revolutions. Maybe too few. Luckily Chris intervened and confirmed that you want to be even faster and he advised you to increase the number of laps. He has experience and I am convinced that it is the right advice. If you also want to work on the size of the propeller, remember that a larger diameter usually requires a more powerful motor than the one you used with the smaller propeller. For the wheelbase, even if I have no experience, I know that a longer wheelbase (correctly correlated with the number of revolutions) increases the speed (all other conditions being equal), but I have heard from many who then have problems with starting from a standing start or in restarts.

That's right Colin. Several buyers were interested but for reasons unknown to me the sale didn't go through. The owner wants to try again.

    Kits for Fairey Marine Models.
As requested here is a list of all the kits that have been produced for Fairey Marine boats. Only SLEC and Sarik Hobbies currently produce models. I think I've listed them all. Chris Huntsman 28 Kit produced by Veron for a 42โ€, scale 1:8 model. No longer available but may come up for sale rarely. Swordsman 33 Kit produced by Aerokits for a 33 ยผโ€, scale 1:12 model. This is for the aft cabin version where the roof is around deck level. No longer available but do sometimes come up. SLEC now produce a kit at 25โ€ where the aft cabin roof is slightly higher but still within the coamings. Huntsman 31 The first Huntsman 31 kit was produced by Modav (Model Avionics) in the 1970s and was for a 34โ€ long model at the rather odd scale of 1:11. The business then morphed into Precedent Kits (Balsacraft) and they continued with the all wood kits but also added fibreglass hulled ones in both 34โ€/scale 1:11 and 47 ยฝ โ€/scale 1:8. Iโ€™ve never actually seen a big fibreglass hulled one. The rights to manufacture the kits were then bought by Anglian Model Products but not many were sold and the company has ceased trading. Unbuilt kits and built models come up on EBay quite often and are usually the Precedent kits as more of those were sold, though I donโ€™t think the kit design changed much, if at all through itโ€™s various incarnations. SLEC now produce kits at 23 ยฝ " and 47โ€ with the latter being a development of the Precedent kit and incorporating some changes to the construction and laser printed planked deck etc. Huntress 23 Sarik Hobbies do a plan and laser cut wood kit for a 23โ€, scale 1:12 model. SLEC do a kit for a 34โ€, scale 1:8 model. Miscellaneous There was also a range of kits for a number of Fairey models but they are too small for practical use and therefore were not popular.

Convention for displaying a model Boat
Thanks. There was a kit of the Huntsman 28 by Veron many years ago and drawings, but you rarely see the kits nowadays. Infact you rarely see Huntsman 28 models at all as they became overshadowed by the Huntsman 31 kits, originally by Modav/Precedent and now by SLEC in the UK. The Veron kit and the drawings was too big for me at 42", scale 1:8, and I'm on a mission to scratch build all my Faireys at a scale of 1:12 as I'd already got a Huntress at that scale built by Dave Milbourn. Five underway and two more planned! As well as being too big for what I wanted I also wanted the superstructure to lift off as one to gain access to the motor and RC installation etc. So, I did my own drawings as per my other builds. The superstructure was fiddly as I wanted to keep the coamings thin, but I managed it. I'll post a list of all the Fairey kits on a separate thread. Chris

    Lipo vs Li-ion
Ha ha thanks! This is a nice video. The sounds are on the boat tracks taken from the jaws film so actual real music and dialogue. It's operated from a trigger switch via transmitter, and the smoke unit now also comes out of the engine hatch https://youtu.be/TOO0QfESH-I?si=muO2BmhL9yU8RE60๐Ÿ‘

Thanks for the info. and photos. I did do a quick Google but it wasn't clear to me whether the train had run since 2021. Pity about the hydrofoil being left to rot. Chris

    Insurance for UK/ EU/ world
Hi Shipmates, We live in a world where people will quite happily sue or claim damages if an accident occurs, which potentially can be very costly. The Model Power Boat Association can provide Insurance for UK modelers. Currently (2024) the cost is around ยฃ20 for the year. Please read web page for details. https://www.mpba.org.uk/insurance/ Regards Roy

no matter what the condition of the LiPo battery it is always a good idea to store and transport them in a bag that is insulated and fire proof that are specially made for that purpose. Len
