Going back to the warning about the knives and foot injury. A safe way to keep knives handy around the building board .Have a block of expanded polystyrene or Oasis Or similar .When not in the hand stick the knife into the block. To sharpen blades use a "Water of Ayr Stone ". I find nothing better . John O/T👍
Funny I usually mention the apron trick and a doggy on a lead????? That's a magnet on a string. I use speaker magnet with the isert. I trap the string in the hole with the insert. Dragged around the floor will pick up any ferrous stuff. Another is a telescopic rod with a magnet incorporating a light for nooks and crannies Where springs or spring loaded stuff fly to. The Apron you can buy or make with eyelets on the hem hooked over little hooks like those used on curtain wire or tiny cup hooks.Screwed under edge of bench. A round Water of Ayr stone (cylinder) is very handy too. Give the stones a clean now and then in detergent rubbed in by hand or meths/paraffin mix but use wet. Good luck.👍
The WoA stones are a very fine abrasive stone which puts a very fine finish on edges etc. My round one snapped when I dropped it.I Araldited it together which lasted years but it got snapped again and I mislaid a half. Must get a new one.---https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=water+of+ayr+stone&oq=Wate... BTW give the flat stones a parrafin/ meths was now and then. See this lot and good luck👍
