This boat was built from a set of plans that I perched years ago. I used the basic plans as a guide for the hull, then built the rest simmerly to the boat called Ocean Alexander 90. It has taken me 18 months to complete, and now she is ready for her first sea trial. Will keep you inform of her performance.

This is an Engel kit, but heavily modified. The deck was replaced with 2mm polycarbonate and slots cut with a slotting tool on a lathe/drill. There are 3 access hatches instead of the original 1. The internal layout was completely revised. The dive system is the Engel Tmax that works very well. There are too many other changes to mention, but suffice to say they were to make the submarine more realistic and also easier to maintain.

Originally built by my Dad in the early sixties, fitted then with a Taycol Target and two very wet lead acid accumulators. First renovation about 26 years ago for my daughter Jessica, fitted with a 6V Decaperm. Performance was VERY sedate. Perhaps fitting for a Broads Cruiser? The Taycol will now go into the Danish fish cutter I am currently renovating. First two pics show her condition, incl. engine room, last year after about 25 years in the cellar. Last three pictures show current condition after extensive renovation, see 'Build Blog Jessica' and refit. Video shows her Sea Trial end of May https://youtu.be/b0BWJ3duzDw Now just cockpit fit to do and suitable crew to find. Can't 'select' Speed here as she wasn't equipped with GPS! But quick! Now she planes well so I guess I've turned her into a Sport Fishing Boat!? Rating I also can't select for myself, that's something for you guys to do! ;-)

This started out as a Seaport Dickie Harbour Tug, that came with a 40Mhz radio system, ESC and a small water pump. So the first thing was to remove the 40Mhz system and replace it with a new 2.4 alone with a replacement ESC, I also removed the water pump. It was now time to think how I was going to repaint her, as the club had been invited to out local R.N.L.I. station I came to the decision that I would make her into a R.N.L.I Concept Tug.

My model of the Christian Radich a Norwegian full-rigged ship. I don’t recall the manufacturer’s details of this model kit but I believe it was of Spanish origin. Construction of the model is a double plank hull and deck with most of the small fittings being supplied in the kit of parts, the build time was 680 hours. The vessel was built in Sandefjord, Norway and was delivered on 17 June 1937. The owner was The Christian Radich Sail Training Foundation established by a grant from an officer of that name. The vessel is a full-rigged three masted steel hull, 62.5 m long, with an overall length of 73 m including the bowsprit and a maximum width of 9.7 m. She has a draught of about 4.7 meters and a displacement at full load of 1050 tons. Under engine power she reaches a top speed of 10 knots, while she can make up to 14 knots under sail. In 1939, the ship sailed across the Atlantic to visit the World Trade Fair in New York. The ship and the voyage created huge press coverage and made Christian Radich famous. When the ship came back home in September 1939, she was taken over by the Norwegian Navy. After the German invasion, the Nazi’s used the ship as an accommodation ship. At the end of the war, Christian Radich was towed to Flensburg in Germany where it was later bombed and sunk. At the end of the war, Christian Radich was hoisted up and towed to Kiel with a minesweeper as a protection ship. She was later towed to Norway and fully restored in 1947. There is a rich source of information about this beautiful ship on the internet if anyone is interested to learn more about her.

Found this kit on a well-known auction site and bought it for £100. It is the original Robbe kit and fittings included. There was no command module and so I have devised a way of having working anchors, tow, crane and warning beacon, bow thruster, nav lights and searchlight. It was a bit of a struggle to balance her properly and she needs quite a lot of ballast. A real handful, you might say but she looks really well on the pond.

I started to build this boat with my father when i was about 15, then at about 45 i decided to finish it. it was originally built to have a ed diesel engine, but was to costly to run so i changed to electric. it really runs well with this power plant, and i enjoy running it.

Macedonian was a Lively class 38 gun frigate of the Royal Navy built in 1810. She fought and was captured by the American frigate United States in October of 1812, and taken into the US Navy where she served until 1829. This model is 1:36 (1"= 3'), built of white pine over 3/8" CDX plywood forms, covered with one layer of 4oz glass cloth outside and coated with poly resin inside. It will depict the ship as she was in 1812, before being re-rigged to American standards. Estimated specs: Beam: 13-1/2" Length of the hull: 59" Length over the rig: 85-3/4" Width over the rig: 36" ~ Main yard w/o stuns'l booms. This was a static scratch built model constructed by a model engineer probably in 1970s, I was gifted the boat by the local RNLI Branch with the proviso I looked after it and occasionally displayed it on Flag Days. The boat is a model of the Lizard and Cadgwith lifeboat 'Duke of Cornwall' which saw service for 20 years and saved 95 lives. I have fitted 6 channel San,wa remote control and the Torpedo engines and batteries. She runs very well on the water and achieves a good scale speed when both motors are at full power. Batteries are 12 volt gel type and new, I have never had a problem with endurance. Control is by two Electronize speed controllers which plug in independently to receiver. She has a two tone siren, worked from retract servo switch, which is useful for clearing a way through birds. Steering (like the real thing) was rather sluggish, a single blade rudder but it improves by using the two engines. She is pretty heavy to lift into the car, I use nylon strops to lower her into water. I have done several adjustments to her topside so that she more correctly resembles the 1962 Barnett lifeboat she is modelled on, main adjustment was to put mahogany veneer onto to forward and rear bulwarks, as the originals had. The original boat topside was painted grey and it was only later that areas were painted orange, she is a non self righting lifeboat one of the last of this type and modifications were made in the mid sixties to seal off the rear doors and provide a watertight compartment, as well as fully enclosing the wheelhouse (the model's wheelhouse is open at the rear, as was the original. All hatches and doors open. The railings are chain link and seem to be a very good match to the ones fitted. My only issue at the moment is the radio wires which seem to be very vulnerable, have used electric thread but not a great solution - something to look out for. I have purchased 3 crew and am about to paint them, two will be in the wheelhouse.
