I now have 3 and started no 4. they are named after my grand children. they love to sail them as they are so manoverable they do any thing you want. any body wanting a simple build this is the one. I have built them all from off cuts of timber. the plan is from radio controlled modelboats 1985

Kaiserlich und Königlich (KuK) TB IV Recently built scale model boat (1:50). It is a fine art work. Length: 884mm Beam: 95mm One 3 blade propeller. Main armament: 2 45cm torpedo tubes, 2 4.7cm/L44 Skoda rapid firer. Crew: 20 people Speed:27.5 knots In 1905 the Austrian Naval Technical Committee presented three different designs for a 110t coastal torpedo-boat, mainly differing in the propulsion system (VTE or turbines). Having insufficient experience with turbines, a final VTE-propelled design with oil-firing was presented in 1907. To compare it with foreign technology, Krupp, Schichau and Yarrow were asked for competitive designs, all of which turned out to be inferior. Initially STT was ordered to build 8 such boats, but this was reduced to 6, because Danubius had to participate. When the older torpedo-boats lost their names in 1910 in favour of arable numbers, these units became in consequence Tb 1-Tb 6. The boats were surprisingly seaworthy up to sea state 5-6, and during the war they saw active service on escort, minesweeping and anti-submarine dunes.

Scratch built from Marine Modeller plans. One sail drum servo for the main and self tacking jib. A sail arm servo for the staysail and foresail. An extra servo to allow tension on the upper trisail. The bowsprit is an additional 10" on the overall length of the model. For RC sailing I have a 2.5kg detachable keel and rudder extesion ( shown in the photograph). All the deck winches are built from old clock parts. The lee boards are also functional and work in conjunction with the forward head sails and the sailarm servo. For transportation the top mast can be lowered and the bowsprit raised.

The propulsion is with 4 props paired using a dual ESC by Action Electronics and 2 11.1v LIPO batteries. These MTB were powered with 4 Packard 4M-2500 Engines with a hull speed of 34.5kts. I started building this boat about 15 years ago and still have not finished it.I have to do all of the finer work on the decks and mast. I just added a water pump last month to keep the motor cool . The force flow system did not work with little or no water getting through and the motor and controller got very hot after a short running time. I have not given the boat a long high speed run yet but test in my swimming pool seems satisfactory with the pump putting through a large volume of water

This boat is still under constrution (Ive still to finish "Shell Pioneer") so a lot of the above is only guess work however a bench test at full throttle, with sound generator, amplifier and smoke generator operational it drawing less than 3A. The majority of this was the smoke generator with the drives only drawing 0.25A (under no load) so if these figures do not increase too much once in the water i should get a much longer running time from my 2 lipo packs

Performance not yet known, still in the fitting out dock. Power is actually 2 x 6V 4Ah. ESC will be Graupner Navy V30R. Maybe 2 for differential control to support rudder. I've left 'Number of Props' as Please Select cos Belfast has 4 and this ain't an option!! Long term plans for smoke (borrowed from model railway kit!) lighting and gun control. Have already bought magicians 'Flash Paper' for main battery gun flashes. Ignition using old 'out of work' glow-plugs? Any ideas welcome :-) Ship is Graupner Premium line. NOT IMPRESSED with quality of cast resin parts, lots of air bubble depressions :-/ Fair amount of rework / repaint necessary!

It's a Graupner premium line ATR! ;-/ Wanted some 'quick fun' while working on more complex constructions (HMS Hotspur H Class Destroyer 1936, 1:72 and Type IIA U26 also 1936). Didn't work out that way! On first test of motors and ESC I discovered that the shafts were so badly fitted that they were binding ;-( So back in dry dock for some hull surgery! That's why some inputs are missing above. Plan is to gradually add functions and special effects; lighting, gun controls, magicians Flash Paper for gun flashes. Maybe fired using my old glow-plugs!!?? Now I'm freshly retired I have more time for this ;-), as long as Gisela doesn't drag me off around the world too often ;-) I also have HMS Belfast from the same series (approx 1:128) also awaiting fitting out. More soon - don't hold your breath please ;-) In the pipeline is some 'Plastic Magic' with Ark Royal, Hood and Bismark all to 350 scale ca 70-80cm. Sorry been in Munich for over 30 years don't think in inches any more (except when buying mag wheels for the chariot!) Cheers, and as my German boating friends say 'Immer ein Handbreite Wasser unterm Kiel!) = I wish you always a hand-widths water under your keel. I sail on the lake in the Ostpark near me in Munich. Very convenient, right next to the Biergarten! 😎

This is the first boat I had made using about eight sheets of plain styrene sheet.cutting all the parts, and using a vernier gauge to help me make exact parts. A full set of instructions came with the kit and I found it very easy to follow. The hull is very good.sailing on calm sunny days it sits in the water perfect, turning at speed is very realistic, in leans like motor bike.I built this some time ago and I never stop looking at it and thinking what else can I do to make this more realistic,so now it's back on the table and I'm planning to make the radars work, and after this nav/ lights, and on.

The real fire boat is stationed in Buffalo New York . This fire boat visits Port Colborne on Lake Erie every year for Canal Days & because the model boat club I'm in sets up a display at the museum in town I decided to build a scratch build of this boat I used the prints of the Sequin Midwest tug for the hull & Internet photos for details. I used the tops of Lepages glue bottle to simulate the Monitor on the decks I'm real proud of them.
