I did a build log a few months ago & she had her pond tryouts on Nov. 9 2017 . It was a very chilly day but I always like to put a little Rum on my models before first sail & fortunately I had a little rum left over to take the chill off . I always try to put a penny in my models for the year it was built no more pennies in Canada & now it's a nickel which I could not find because of our Centennial year so used a loonie .

This is one of my oldest and favourite boats - as you can see it is a Fireboat but it is not a Vosper Mk 2. It was kit built at one time but I haven't been able to track down what it is. Is like a Vosper Firefloat Mk.2 but It Is different. The bridge section of my boat is different being longer, the mid-ship section having three windows in lieu of two and the stern is completely different in profile. I first wrote about my boat on the Model Fireboat Website back in 2010 and asked for any help in identification but despite lots of good comment but I was none the wiser. I contacted Terry Holtham who is an acknowledged expert in RAF Marine craft having written many books and he provided me with a lot of information and said "It bears an uncanny resemblance to the drawing I received which was an official Vosper drawing but not with a number or date I have presumed it to be what I believe is the Mk 1 version of the 46ft Firefloat". However this is not definitive and I still have no real answer. Great fast little boat that 'turns on a sixpence' though.

This is Project 1, a scratch build Riva Aquarama from Plans, with laser cut marine ply as the basis for the bulkheads etc. Started on 5 April 2016 and in the space of 6 days got to stringers, which is where it all seemed to go wrong. Try as I might I couldn’t get them to bend around, using balsa wood and various techniques. I left it to one side to concentrate on Project 2, and haven’t picked it up since, hence the poor rating I have given it. It will be finished at some stage, probably after I have completed my Sea Commander and the other Riva boat. I will update with more pics as I go along.

Ok, so this is Project 2 of 3. Started as a scratch build from plans purchased from John Toms as I recall back in March 2016. Yes, I know, should have finished it by now, but I have been busy with life and work and all that jazz. The photo shows where I got to within a month. Progress has been painfully slow since and mostly about planking the hull and fore deck in tiny mahogany strips. Painstaking work too. I will be picking this up more in between my Sea Commander work, probably while glue/paint is drying etc. It should be nice when it’s finished.Update, I managed to add some more planking to the hull while waiting for epoxy to set on Scrumpy 3’s hull. . Some more photos attached.

I’m building an Aerokits Sea Commander from the kit by Jotika. It’s early stages yet, so some details are missing but I have added all I can at this stage. I will update as I go with latest photos and progress. Update, work is going’s well, not much time spent over the last couple, of weeks, but have progressed to fix the first bottom hull skin. Photos attached to show progress, see Build Blog for more details.

This is based on a Fairey Swordsman and is another of my own designs but made in Vac Formed Styrene for which the vac former was home-made as well. The model is designed specifically for youngsters and club members who want to race together. The boat only has 5 parts!! Top, bottom, rudder and servo cast assembly ( Polyester resin) and motor, prop shaft assembly also Polyester resin. A wooden frame that forms the seal and holds hull in shape. The whole top comes off. Its scarey fast and very tough (2mm styrene) and was made for under £25. Hoping build article will also go into MB magazine sometime.
