This model was originally built by my father in the 50's for i.c. power. It was laid up in 1962 and remained inactive until two years ago. At that point, I egan recommissioning it, fitting twin brushless motors in place of the deafening single glow motor and straight-cut gears. I also added a great deal detail that my dad had never added. It performs very well nicely in this guise with the added drama of a throttle-linked digital sound system.

The kit was purchased over 40 years ago and after the bare hull and superstructure was built it languished in my shed until I retired. Being new to this RC modelling business I gleaned much from the internet. A few deck items were purchased but the bulk were scratch built, both from the kit and by my own fair hand, and maybe not to scale. Its not exactly the Perkas but then I'm no expert. She has yet to be launched when I can find time to get to a local model boating lake.

During the storms at the end 1944 some Bombardons broke up and sank while others parted their anchors and drifted down onto the harbours, possibly causing more damage

This was another own build with idea based on a 1960's Straight Runner called Beachcomber. My rebuild and plans were upgraded to modern materials like Depron Foam for the hull, Lite ply for the cabin, Brushless power and a traditional planked deck. It turned out beautiful and quite a few plan copies have been sold. Full build article was published in July issue of Model Boats mag.

This is another article for MB magazine. The model plan had to fit across 2 pages (A3) Hence its length. This one is built using the old Keil Kraft Eezibilt methods of the late 1950's. Made using mainly Balsa wood and covered in nylon tights and dope. It is fully detailed mainly using odds and ends . The plexiglass gun turrets are made using 21mm Carp fishing 'Ball' floats. Masters in plastic were fitted to the model after mouldings were made for the Oerlikon 20mm and all the Lewis guns as well as shrapnel padding and most fittings. 2 sheets of highly detailed plans will be free in the Winter Special hopefully with a full photo and build write up. It goes like a rocket. Great little model and all for under £25.00!. (Inc ESC, Motor and battery!)

Ebay job £50 Old Vintage Aero kit 34in Fire boat needing a lot of attention, with delaminating plywood, old glue, old glow-plug engine mounts with electric conversion, and after removing a metal shield I discover an vintage (1970,s Ripmax Bullet 30 Motor the dogs bollocks of electric racing of its time capable of running 24v at 15A. 300W for a brushed motor. Started by revamp rear pit by lowering servo and rudder and building sub deck, storage lockers, tow hook and ladders. Remount the motor with an aluminium mount with custom screw positions. Block windows with 1mm ply. Foam front half of hull to make unsinkable. Make centre decking area. Repair and build up on cabin roofs and walls to centre deck. Rewire add ESC and servo. Remove broken and unusable fittings such as large vents, some missing unable to match again. Problems with old gloss paint crazing the modern spay paints. Build some fittings eg Water cannons, life belts, Build new battery trays, Painting the boat now in progress as of 20/04/2018 Boat has be roughly painted but is not finished, as fittings are now required, added a RC system an gave it a test run. the performance was adequate on 14.4v and great on 17.2v see latter pictures on the pond. the motor did get hot after about half hour of use. the motor is rated at 24v but I think a smaller prop will be required for that voltage. Excellent performance from a brushed motor. Added some stickers and I have now added a 12v fan and ventilation between cabins as the motor required some cooling and was in a sealed compartment.

I bought this boat to give me some running time whilst I complete a major overhaul of my Patrol Torpedo Boat and build my Police Launch kit. I plan to try it for the first time next week in my local river. I would like to thank Doug (RNinMunich) for all his help to get the boat connected electrically as I have not used brushless before and needed to complete quickly. The boat is on it`s way Doug. Note. It is faster than 24km/h. Ran out of options. The instructions say 55km/h.

WL 915 ready to run Brushless 2.4GHz RTR Electric RC Speed Boat. This RC boat is capable of reaching speeds up to 25MPH and anti-capsizing technology? The flood chamber in this boat causes the boat to struggle to get up on the plane, in the end I filled it with foam, and put in a new rudder offset to the right, it now goes well, and I haven't flipped it yet! Features: •Electric Powered •Capable Of Up To 25MPH? •2.4GHz Transmitter •11.1V 1200mAh LiPo Rechargeable Battery •Balance Charger Specifications: •Length: 17.25 Inches •Width: 6.8 Inches •Height: 4.7 Inches I will be modifying this little boat as it has a few annoying problems they are: 1. The flood chamber fills quickly and once full hampers the boat in accelerating and getting on the plane. 2. You cannot run the boat slowly as the flood chamber fills 3. The self righting is not 100 percent reliable. 4. Binding is initially difficult Mods a. Replace cabin so boat lies flat when inverted. so able to use rudder extension to steer when upside-down. b. Racing rudder side position out of prop-wash and aids torque effects. c. Fill float chamber with foam so gets on the plane quickly. d. Cut down rudder as too long (95mm) to 65mm. The cabin will be finished and painted properly after testing. On testing the rudder was reduced and performed well once it got going but still have problems getting it up on a plan it feel this could be a balance issue, needs more mass at the stern.
