The “Maureen Lee” started out as a Bristol Bay ready-to-run semi-scale model of a typical European fishing cutter. Many modifications were made to her to make her look like an old, worn-out fishing boat. Factory-installed switchable work and navigation lighting means that she can even be operated at night. A 550-size electric motor and metal propeller allow for ample power. A Bristol Bay model is supplied practically fully assembled… you need only mount the two masts and install the batteries. Numerous robust details make this model look great at home or on the water! Technical specifications: Hull length: 850 mm Width: 220 mm Overall height: 737 mm Total weight: 3650 g

As a direct result of refurbishing a scratch built 1960s 2754 ,and having the plans to hand,I decided to build two superstructures. 2754 was so impressive I have now built the hull and fitted Motors Drives and rudders. i decided on twin prop set up sit was truer to scale.

Scratch built from plan (Vic Smeed) in the mid 60s by my brother in law I have been aware of this model from the mid 90s sitting on a top shelf in disrepair in his workshop in Wales. Being a reasonable frequent visitor l had looked at the hull of this model and at the end of march on a weekend visit I offered to take the hull and separate deck home with me. I obtained a set of plans off eBay an set about renovating the hull fitting the portholes and keeping as many original bits as possible. Some new deck vents and motor vents were 3d printed by my nephew. The Davits made from plasticard and plastic tubing sadly succumbed to damage during transit so again the 3d printer was put to use deck scuttles an cabin vents were also made Whilst making the super structures and mast I decided to make two of each with the veiw to making a sister vessel but this will be finished in white more on that to follow. 2754 was duly completed ready to return on our summer trip to see family again. We ran the boat on the Teifi estuary to complete a most enjoyable refurbishment and now my great nephew will have the joy of powered model boats having been brought up with yachts both large and small

ARTR fast electric by Thunder Tiger. Deep vee powered by Ripper Brushless outrunner. Will reach 30mph+ when flat out. I replaced the radio that came with the boat with stick operated Futaba T2HR as I preferred "stick" to wheel for sailing fast boats. Initial problem was slight leak where stern tube passes through the transom but soon fixed it with epoxy. Electrics are in a box at the stern which is appears to be water resistant. Though not for a raw beginner, it is great for a second boat especially if someone is hoping to move on to a 6S . If not , it makes a good all rounder and is ideal for club fast electric racing and it performs well when doing tight turns. Boaty

Just finish this little boat, need to have its first trial on the water to measure current draw and perhaps modify the prop size. It has been a pain to try to finish the sides. have tried all kinds for z-poxys and resins. just stopped the pain, by spraying with a can for clean gloss urethane. looks good not great but i'm sick for sanding and getting no better results then before. 10 years in the making dumas 1930 runabout kit. took 18 years to built, trying to finish the hull in zpoxy, didn't work, so going to something else, a real pain,,,

I decided to build a canal/river maintenance barge and had a Thames lighter grp hull as a starter. This was too long so I took a chunk out of the middle and joined the two halves. The decks, hold, cabin and the rest was very much scratchbuilt. There is a lot about this model that would make either the purist or the local H&S man cringe but it was fun and looks great on a shelf in the workroom or even better on the odd trip to the lake. The Hiab crane although in wrong place I think really finishes off the model well the crane and the loo paper haha. Hope someone out there likes it. Regards

This really is a build project, it is hardly out of the box. It will eventually grace the starboard side davits on Bulldog. However she shall be a fully working boat in her own right, a spin off from the Diana Challenge in a boat mag years ago. More when I get a whole lot more done

Metcalfe Kit at 1/48 She is has fine lines and looks well on the water. She handles reasonably well with independent control on each shaft given her length and the amount of superstructure too. She has direct drive on each shaft and need a load of ballast in the stern to keep the props well in the water otherwise she will capitate quite dramatically Running 2 x 12 Amp Hour lead acids she has a great run time, helped by her hull lines, she will carry her way for quite a distance, so yo need to keep your wits about you on a busy pond! She is an ongoing project / refit with new davits and ships boats to be added.

Model Slipway kit, with the incorrect wheelhouse windows, may change them one day when I have time on my hands, i do wish!! Been refitted with a Bow Thruster and up rated batteries from 2 x 12 Amp Hour to 2 x 14 Amp to give a better run time. Fan cooling added t the main motors. She runs well and I am slowly mastering the slow speed tight manoeuvring that twin screws on independent control and a bow thruster can give. A proper "Little" Big Ship that looks the part.

I'v had this model for a long time & it has had several different drive setups lastly a outboard motor that runs quit well but is a little noise .I built it with the outboard motor as it turns real well in reverse which is a asset at the high point regatas we have . stop at a buoy then reverse out I always mess up hopefully I'll do better at our Buffalo N.Y. High Point Aug 26 2018.
