Model was Sea Rover, built about 50 years ago with my father on the living room floor. Power was a Mabuchi 6/12 volt running on two PJ996 lantern batteries or two 4.5v bell batteries wired in series. Well before R/C. Finally gave ot aay to neighbours son and switched to aircraft for 40 years. Now living in Portugal and glow fuel hard to get so changing back to water craft.

Having completed the Sea Ranger I felt it time for more of a challenge. Not wanting to buy a kit of this craft I set about my journey to create the Sea Queen for as little money as possible. Plans were sourced from eBay for £15 a 17" propshaft from model boat bits lead acid battery from Howes models and speed controller off eBay. Total spend so far about £60 and it's ready to run when the blue green algae clears from the lake. All other bits were sourced from my spares / bits box. Apart from 1 x 48 x12" sheet of 4mm plywood all the 6mm & 1.5mm was supplied courtesy of my nephew at Swallow Boats in Cardigan, he builds the real thing, and I in effect produced my own kit over 3 days whilst on. Family visit.

A modified toy boat from EBAY, the original electronics has been removed and a BL set-up and 2S LiPo battery has been installed. Quick, "cheap" and fun just like a "Kinder egg" 3 things in one packaged ;-). The set-up do allow it to run on 3S but it's more scream than more power. Short video https://youtu.be/rIzBSnTaxtA

As before, different to sail a single sail as compared to a Bermuda rig . Still, it's fun and easy to sail. Cheers. Ken, thanks for the tip to send a picture as well. I know know how to do it, thanks To Doug.

boat is by Hobby King and is called the Affinity said to be made by HydroPro who ever they may be. It is a revamped V2, of, I think a Dragon Force and uses the sail suit for this boat which is a good deal smaller than the RG65 association allows. So if you want to be competitive [it does seem a good hull with sound deck layout and ironmongery] then its a new mast and a suit of prime 1100mm luff sails that will be required.

Scratch built using drawings in book 'Goodnight Irene' by Leslie Morrish, who restored the vessel which had lain rotting for years. Sails well , likes plenty of wind. In light winds tends to 'go her own way' and cause anxiety to controller.
