This Drifter was a Marvon Models Kit and was incredible value for the money, a double planked plank on frame hull, and detailed instructions and good quality timber and fittings. As the engine was a four-stroke and silenced, plus the fact it was ticking over at very few revs, it made less noise than your average electric motor. Plus we were not trying too hard to save the planet in those good old days.

My first ever Tug about fifty years ago, and my very first steam engine hence the super-structure looks a little hacked about, especially the engine housing with globe valves stuck out here and there. this was and still is an amazing kit from Panart, a plank on frame double skinned hull, and all the fittings were brass to a very high quality, (note the anchor winch all brass and it works. The engine and boiler was from Maxwell Hemmings one of the very few manufacturers at the time.

This model was made by me from Glyn Guest plans - I made this a good few year ago. Of all the scale models I have built I like this one. When you take a scale model to the lake you have to be so careful not to damage anything - with this one you just put the model in the back of the car and throw it in the water - well not literally (you have to drive down to the lake first)🤓🤓 - many hours of enjoyment.

Bought this some years ago with a holed hull and no cabin. Made only those repairs needed to make it useable, fitted new 2.4Ghz radio gear and batteries, and have been using it ever since. I keep threatening to restore it properly but it's fun as it is and a rebuild is probably more realistic anyway.

I was feeling bored and saw this cheap Chinese toy boat advertised on t'internet. As I say it was cheap but it did have something of a passing resemblance to an Aquarama.... so I ordered one and when it arrived it really didn't look too bad. The down side was the radio gear was 27MHz and comprised just two forward and reverse switches to give forward, back and turn functions, but with no variable speed control. But then I wasn't expecting much anyway. So opening it up the innards were a doddle to remove and were replaced with a 2.4GHz receiver, esc, servo and rudder assembly. Thought about trying to fit water cooling but there really was no signifficant heat generated so it didn't seem worth it Photos seen elsewhere show the boat to plough pretty inelegantly through the water so spray rails and a couple of strakes were fitted to the hull to hopefully improve things in that regard. Anyway it's all back together now with everything working just fine, but I haven't had a chance to put it in the water yet (well it's been in the bath to make sure it floats but that's all) Looking forward to taking it out when the opportunity arises. In the meantime it's looking good on the shelf in the summerhouse and I am looking for the next project. I have to say that I have no illusions about my own abilities and I am totally in awe of the builds seen here. Nobody told me this would be addictive!

Masquerade is a Dean's Marine Oùlton Lady somewhat 'Americanized" (sorry) - Many of the deck fittings are plated with a Caswell brass plating kit. The lighting is all LED with the exception of the searchlight. The second deck was fabricated from doll house flooring as is the helm seat. More photos will follow.

Classic modell, in the 70's sold under the name DMI pirat. a full wooden sailboat without RC controls. the keel was extended to improve stability. In the 90's the wooden strips from the hull were so dried out, that I had to fill it complete with epoxy and sprayed the uniform 'baby blue'color. After a long period in the attic , it saw daylight again and the sails needed to be replaced. Now it is a static model with sailing capacities.
