Shrimp fishing boat Capt CJ
I purchased this scale boat back in 2021 from an old gentleman who has researched, designed and scratch built it ( and many others ) to represent an actual boat that was located in Pine Island Florida.
It is powered by a water cooled brushless motor. Battery is a 2S ( 7.4 v ) LiPo battery ( a 3S was way too much for it ) and it is still very fast. I run it at scale speed and the duration approaches an hour run time ( including headlights. I also have an FPV camera which I use occasionally. It is solid in the water and handles waves well. Just a fun ship.
Unfortunatly, the real boat was destroyed during hurricane Ian in 2022.

Svitzer FERRIBY an ASD tug
I saw this tug working in Southampton. Its lines were striking to my eye so had to build it. FERRIBY’s Mate was very generous with his time providing me with photos & dimensional information for the real tug.
I have not had much sailing time with it due to initial esc failures (since resolved) & it’s 32 lb weight. The little I did run it showed extremely good maneuverability & the need for much practice at the helm.
The hull is Gary King’s TIGER SUN greatly modified to become FERRIBY. All else scratch built.

Kayak
Strip built kayak based on plans from the book "Strip built Sea Kayak" by Nick Schade. Built at 1/6th scale using traditional full sized strip building method.
All propulsion and steering by means of paddle (no prop!), with some assistance from the rudder. Original paddle motion was with motor driven mechanism, subsequently replaced with microchip controlled servo mechanism.
Kayaker is known as Katie!

Very busy at present with 2 new builds but here’s my old 1:12 scale Unlimited hydroplane. Build from scratch using a Vic Smeed plan . Although 1900 kv outrunner, only use 2S lipos as we run on a very small lake so speeds are kept down

Barge/ Lighter
Having built my Bangkok tug, it needed something to tow! In real life these little tugs get harnessed ,with others ,to 300 ton barges! In 1:24 scale Such a barge would take up a lot of lake,so I’ve been building the MMB Thames lighter. Cheated a bit and used the Sarik plans and laser cut frames, and then clad it in 1.5 mm obeche.
Once primed ,I’ll have to play with ballasting. I’ve made two shallow drop in trays with real gravel glued on.
More in due course

IngaIV
The IngaIV was an excellent kit originally many years ago and this shows in the build quality that remains in the purchased hull and deck that arrived by carrier from an online auction site. A good scrub of the decking and a coat of paint on the hull. I made the sails and masts, plus the rigging. Never dealt with a yacht before so it was a steep learning curve, enjoyed every stage and took 8 weeks to maiden voyage which went well and I can say was a success

27” Monterey Clipper
My build of the US famous Monterey Clipper. There was a fleet of these fishing boats along the north coast of California extending to Bodega Bay, northward. San Francisco had the largest fleet with several shipyards, Hicks engine shops, & other chandeliers to service them. The history of the Monterey is far too long to describe here. I can be contacted to provide excellent references to consult.

Kit was called Duna
I have just found out that the really tugs name was Frederic Mistral. Still runs after 100 years. The crew had Chickens in the cage at the bow & sometimes carried pigs in the pen at the stern end was used to make a little extra cash at the ports they went to. This model was a static had to do a lot of modification to interior to make the tug a R/C runner.

BRIGANTINO GOLETTA (SCHOONER BRIG) "FRANCESCA".
Greetings to all naval modelers.
In this section of the site (I hope I got it right this time) I want to include a 1:50 scale model that I invented many years ago.
It is not taken from kits or existing projects.
It was born as a toy to entertain my son but little by little I added slightly more accurate modeling elements.
I designed the hull but without using software, I drew it with pencil and paper. However, if you are not capable of designing a hull, the software is of little use.
It's not beautiful (let's even say a little ugly), I know this, because it wasn't born with a homogeneous project but is the result of ideas that came along little by little.
I'm fond of it and "every cockroach is beautiful for its mother" ahahahahahah.
However, it was very useful for me to do nautical tests and learn the rudiments of electronics on board RC models.
The motor is a 24 volt brushed motor but is normally powered by 6 volts. However, there is the possibility of bringing it up to 12, 18 and 24 volts. Up to 12 volts has been tested, above no.
It has no protruding fins or keels and can navigate in about 10cm of water.
Her name is FRANCESCA but I gave her to my son.
I will not include all the assembly phases but only some summary photos, so as not to bore you with an already finished model.
Of course, if anyone asks I will be available for any details.
I will only post four or five more messages related to the most interesting sailings, with very short descriptions of the places.
