Dumas Osprey - Posted: 9 years ago by ianed57
Fishing cruiser built from kit by Dumas- no longer available I believe. Powered by Graupner Speed 500 on 7.2 volts with MTroniks 15 amp ESC. Travels at brisk walking pace so not exciting, but nice to watch. Has a big boat feel even though only two feet long.
There's a video of Scoter on the water.

Lesro Sportsman - Posted: 9 years ago by ianed57
Lesro Sportsman kit, wood sports fishing boat 33'' In length, weight about 8lb. MFA 850 on 12v (10 NiMHcells 3.5ah) MTroniks 40amp esc, X50 prop. Built by Ian Gardner.
March 2010. I am now using 12 cells and a Graupner speed controller. I added watercooling too and the boat goes noticeably faster- but melted a fuse holder on first outing so I need to upgrade some of the wiring. There was also a bit of prop aerating on turns so might reduce the prop size.
The last photo Is with Increased voltage.

And now for something completly different - Posted: 9 years ago by harleydream1
This Is Baldrick, a Krick radio controlled canoe.Yes he actually paddles his way round the pond (calm waters only as he gets swamped easily).Manual speed control powered by 2 x c size batteries and 4 AA for reciever placed for and arft for balance, not fast but very good to watch.
Baldrick last outing was at Twyford Water works open day Twyford Hants and he has been asked back.
A very different model which needs a delicate hand to operate, but still fun.

AmatI Aquarama Riva - Posted: 9 years ago by AllanC
This Is the first radio controlled model I have attempted.
It was purchased weekly (80 weeks) when I was living In Spain. Only problem was that all the text and Instructions were In spanish and my understanding of spanish was severely limited!!!!!!!.
But with a translation program on my PC I was able to complete the model.
As I said this Is my first excursion Into wooden modelling, although I am proficient In plastic modelling, especially aircraft.
As a first model I am somewhat proud of the completed model, although It Is yet to be christened on the water.
Since completing this I have built a Royal Navy Frigate circa 1799, sadly I was unable to transport It back to the UK. It Is awaiting my return to Spain.

I have the original Model Maker mag from December 1958 which states: 'all from No. 2754 up had a raised deckhouse over the engine room hatch' - like yours. No. 2753 Is shown with a flat engine room hatch.
Response by gerry on the 5th Feb 2012
Hello,Boocock and thank you for your responce.
I have now sold all my boats as I had to give It up for certain
problems.
But I still like to look at the models from time to time, and will stay a member.
If you can post some Information on anything about the rttl,I will pass It on to the new owners,I don't think he has had the time to become a member yet, but I am shure he will soon.Regards Gerry

HI Gerry,
I can post scans of the Model Maker pages If this site allows. I am new to the site so not sure what Is allowed or how to add scans. I don't think the mag article Is the whole story though as I have seen a photo of No. 2757 with a flat engine room hatch! I started building the hull In 1958 and now I have retired I hope to finish It, but It has taken me 2 years to find the plans again! Regards John

Research Vessel Meteor - Posted: 9 years ago by Seaspray
This Is my latest build and first time at scratch building. Other than the hull I've done everything else so far and learned a great deal In scratch building. The hull was built for me as I had no experience of lifting details from the basic layout plan I had, but will learn this soon. Various stages In the build to date. It has a Graupner 500 ECKO motor pulley drive. Motor sits above the propshaft on special engine mount and the shaft has an oiler. 2 ch Futaba `T2ER 40 MHz radio which Is all hidden under the false planked aft working deck. It will run on a 12v 7amp gell cell battery with a FR30HX Electronize ESC. Currently building one of the cranes.
