ST200 info
A mold of the St200 raf rescue boat was made by Neil Howard Pritchard from
fleetwood
who subsequently gave away to Steve Tranter of Model Boat bits....Alas Steve sold it on to a chap who he beleives to be from the Midlands who was going to use the hulls for Kids ready to run boats at his club and lived around an hour from his home in Telford. Now this Mold must be somewhere if anyone knows of it's whereabouts or any info leading to finding it As I would like to produce a kit of this Model could you please contact me ALL INFO will be treated in confidence...Thanks

Hi Onetenor
Fuji 15 was a good glow engine which I don't think it is manufactured any more. Aero version max B.H.P was just below .40 when tested. if it was in a model aircraft it would have been around .20 to .25 depending on prop size which was good then for a small capacity glowplug . Marine versions when on the water put out a little less and the water cooled jacket was never as efficient as the finned cylinder jacket of the aero version.
My two Aerokits boats, the Sea Commander and the Crash Tender are powered by single Speed 600 motors running on either 8.4 or 9.6 volt Ni Mh batteries. Performance is equal to that of marine diesel power such as the 2.46 Ed Racer and D.C 2.46 Rapier, the latter I used to watch in the fast steering events in the early 1960s at
fleetwood
and Coronation Park in Crosby just outside Liverpool. Taycol powered versions would be obviously slower due to the additional weight were far more reliable and you did not have to put up with injuries from excessive use of a starting cord with kids watching and "extracting the urine" shouting "why wont it go mister".

A return to the hobby!
SLEC do have a good reputation and its great that the classic kits of old are back in production.
The Sea Commander is one of my favourites as I restored one many years ago but foolishly sold it to fund my karting activities four years later.
However in 2011 I found another one and restored that. This one I am keeping along with the 34 inch Crash Tender of 1962 vintage that I restored in 2014 being one that the former owner
was about to place in a skip.
I am interested in a Sea Rover as its a boat I never had. in the early 1960s when we lived in Liverpool, dad would take us up to
fleetwood
to see the Aerokits display and watch the steering event on the big lake.
Nostalgia aint what it used to be.

Hi Wayne
It's not that clubs have anything against fast models and IC, more that the local council and residents object to the noise and pollution. The result is sailing waters are lost for all and new waters are difficult to find. I am speaking from personal experience of just such a situation where a non club member raced an IC boat when the club were not present and the council withdrew permission following complaints from local residents.
There are clubs where IC's are permitted and the off shore power boats use IC.
I believe
fleetwood
may allow ICs but I am not sure and apologise if this is not the case.
Darren our club fast expert has achieved speeds nearing your 75mph using brushless/Lipo and self piercing props. He makes it across our lake in about 2 secs. I will mention you when I next see him and ask if he wants to contact you to discuss your project as he also designs his own boats.
Keep us posted with your progress.

Hope you are well. Finally got my boat on the water at the weekend (

Scale & Power weekend) and I was quite pleased with things, however it does keep blowing fuses so I will re-wire and see if that helps other wise I am flumoxed.
I am considering converting it to 2 props though to be more true to the original boats and wondered if you had any tips and internal/external pictures of your 46 for me to look at.
Many thanks again Tom.

46'' Vintage RAF Crash Tender Re-do.
Just had It's first run today at
fleetwood

Now have a small hole In the side of the hull where It hit the Island for my troubles. Smaller prop went on 45x and things seem fine again. 3rd run tomorrow at

with a 40 prop and speed controller adjusted. Video's to follow and I have to thank the members of

PT 301 Snuffy Smith update
The build is now well on its way with a new paint job. She has spent a whole day floating in a tank with no leaks. The motor and R/C gear has been installed and tank tested and it works. The real 301 served in the Pacific and had a green camouflage paint job. The model has a grey paint job as recommended by Aerokits. My cameraman could not find her on
fleetwood
lake on a grey day. Had her first sea trial, we had issues with the battery, nearly a disaster.
More with the next update.

PT301 (Snuffy Smith)
Mean and lean looking machine. Great to see the original box as well. I bet you are glad you didn't fit the I/C engine, it's saved you having to get rid of all the gooey associated gunge. in my experience you need to check the hull joints very carefully as the glue and wood will probably have suffered from being in your dry dock! An application of overall tissue and sanding sealer or resin will seal any fine cracks. As you are already sanding down this shouldn't add too much work but may save you heartache later. Good luck at
fleetwood
- please post pictures of your model on the water ๐

PT301 (Snuffy Smith)
I started this build back in the 60's.When I was a teen. But other passion's, work and marriage got in the way. Parents often took me to
fleetwood
to watch the power bouts. Now retired, found the boat still in dry dock (loft) at christmas and the passion was re-ignited. The boat is 70% built. Just needs a little refurbishment and all new internals. The original plan was for a 7.5cc I/C engine but will now consider a Speed 600 brushed electric with 2.4 ghz R/C. The clear coat to the hull has shrunk and cracked so a new rub down and re-paint needed. Hopefully all finished for
fleetwood
Vintage day in June.

Fireboat/Vintage Model Boat Day 2012
calm down Pete!! nobody appreciates your efforts more than me, I originally rebulit my boat without all the info and forums available now, with aload of help from you, so I love you loads! โค๏ธ
"there is at least 150 yards of launching space to the left of where we normally sail from,"
do you mean the other side of the bushes? I thought that was restricted with the wildlife?
now, you are right, other boats have crept in, I sailed one of them whilst waiting for my batteries to recharge!, but it is quite a difficult area to lauch from, as the water is shallow, and "gravelly" The sailing area is wider further out, behind the steering course which you have to be behind, if you know what I mean. I have attended every time work allows, mainly to support your efforts which really got the whole fireboat thing going. I would suggest there is some sort of definition to the "vintage" theme, like they do at
fleetwood
, otherwise the risk is not many aerokits etc turn up, and everything and anything turns up, and it becomes a general sail rather than something special and unique. if its a general sail, people may not travel with their fireboats and old aerokits models, just my thoughts ๐

Boston Blenhiem fd137 stern trawler
HI Wilson
Try Googling Boston Blenheim. Plenty of info available including pictures. it was also an article and free plan in Model Boats Magazine in 1978 - to March 1979 (Part3). ๐
A short synopsis:
Built: R Dunston Ltd, Hessle
Owner: Boston Deep Sea Fisheries Ltd,
fleetwood
History
1971: To
fleetwood
as a new vessel. Fished both home waters and Iceland and later worked the pelagic fisheries off the SW and NW coasts of UK.
1979: Sold, along with BOSTON BEVERLEY to Ben Mar Fishing Co, Chile. Later acquired by the Chilean Navy.
2008: Registered at Valparaiso. Current owners are Pesca Chile SA, Santiago.
I may even have a copy of the plan somewhere. ๐
Hope this helps.
Good building, why not start a blog and share your experiences. ๐

froggyt996 what Is In your Sea queen
HI Paul
The run time is about 20 to 25 minutes.
The Leicester run was the first run ever and
fleetwood
was the second outing.
The prop was 65mm Roboesch 4 blade.
Not tried lipo pack as yet.
The 65mm was only a soldered up prop and it threw a blade, so I will be getting a cast prop.
