MFA TORPEDO 500 / BATTERY INFO
First attempt at a full scratch build, a 32" Downeast /
    lobster boat
style hull in ply, to be built to my own design as a picnic / fun boat. Have acquired an MFA Torpedo 500 and a 40mm 4 blade Raboesch prop, 175 series I think. Hoping to run direct drive. Any advice on battery size voltage and Mah to get a turn of speed if required and a reasonable run time. Lipo preferably as I have a 2/3 cell charger from a previous project and limited space only in front third of hull. TX for any advice received

    1/10 scale figures 6'' - 7''
I just purchased a Midwest Lobster Yacht which was built about 15years ago. The figures are for it. Looking for male and female passengers and family. I have the full sheet plan which says it is drawn on a 3/4"=1"scale. My forth coming winter project, is to scratch build a second one of these beautiful boats using the model as a guide and template along with the plans.

    Fairplay X - Plastic Magic! :-)
A GRANDE RICHIESTA! as you asked me how I did it! it is very simple! ehm not so much but: you take the lobster (minipig submarine u16 new) take out delicately the pincers (the two motors) paying attention to isolate the cables for each motors, than take away from the body the fruit (the intere block including internal battery, receiver and jack to charge) than I substitued the two motor pillars of the original fairplay kit with the two mini sub pillars very similar in sembiance and proportions, painted than reconnect the cables of the two motors with tiny cable joint to the "fruit" fixed on the exact balanced centre of the ship hull (you can see by the photos: it is right between the two main internal hollow septs). You can use the front submarine lights to enlight the fairplay lower cabins. Take care it is a nonconventional very difficult and nerve raking work but with a little help (from my friends? Noo nobody here) from the lady luck instead you can obtain the result of a mad - merely responding to command - foolish steering - lovable tugboat. hope this pics can help (Excuse me but I sealed the fruit before fixing to the hull with a lot of electric tape and sealing paint to waterproof it! So I haven't images of it naked but it is a quite simple structure! ๐Ÿ˜ฑ P.S. Excuse for my neapolitan-deformed english I can't do better!

Power supply (temporary) for the charger.
Just wanted to thank you for posting all the valuable information on your build. I'm just getting back into the hobby after too many years away and appreciate the construction details that you include. it certainly appears that suppliers and craftsman in the UK are much more plentiful and involved in the hobby than I have found here in the US to date. I just started a Blue Jacket
    lobster boat
to get my feet wet again but have my eye on a Speedline or Model Slipway Tamar Class Life Boat. Looking forward to more posts! Frank

I enjoy seeing and building a model from scratch they way it was years ago, we have a long snow season.Enjoy reading everything, from across pond I can see you people do a great job. Gumboot Cloggeroo Had it's maiden voyage on March 4th at the Hamilton Boat show . She didn't leak but had several issues Needed more weight in the stern.Rudder is a cable system that didn't work well & needed changing to servo rod system My transmitter speed control was on the right side of transmitter & I had to move it to the left side & needed to open up the transmitter & file a notch in the actuator at the center for neutral .Rudder needed to be rebuilt with a extra 1/4 inch larger . After all these changes ran boat On March 6th & it ran a lot better. Used L.E.D. lights that are turned on by a switch on the transmitter. Had to install 180 ohm resisters in series with LED's As there fed off the 7.2 volt Battery supply And a Turnigy R/C Electronic switch.

    What was yout first boat?
My first boats: (1) 1950s Star Yacht, very small, slowing rotting away at present (2) 1950s Aerokits Sea Scout built when in my early teens; it had an IC engine which I never got around to fitting - didnt know anyone who could help 1950s. (3) 2007 Aerokit RAF Launch purchased from e-bay still trying out different props; has a 900 motor running off 12 V; two in series 6 V lead acid batteries. (4) 2008 Built the Skimmer from Model Boat Magazine plan; 400 motor and a 9.2 V NiMH 1400 mAh battery. (5) 2008 purchased a remote controlled Yacht to see if I could master sailing in the wind etc - not easy. (6) 2008 building a Maime
    lobster boat
    - not sure about prop, motor, battery yet as work in progress.
