Is it only admirals who receive a
    medal
after a donation or two? Just curious although I am not sure that I could cope with the responsibility and adoration that so obviously goes with such a high position๐Ÿ˜ญ Regards to our sesteemed colleagues Chris G

    medal
for that! Jarvo, sorry to have messed up on your name in my resent mail, but I am sure you understood. NPJ

I did mention that the new website upgrade was worthy of a new donation and I'm delighted that allenrod is championing the cause so enthusiastically, and the numbers are rising steadily. Well done to all you new contributors ๐Ÿ‘ Keep those donations coming in folks and wear that
    medal

Thanks to everyone who has donated! This month we've broken records on the number of people who have contributed in a single month! If anyone would like to publically show they've supported the website, you can now add a 'Good Conduct'
    medal
to your avatar. You don't have to, by default it's off, but if you want to show your support you can switch it on in the my account page or your donations page. In other news, the next project for me is giving you all a better iOS mobile app. I'll keep you all posted on that. Thanks again everyone ๐Ÿ˜Š Stephen

Yes I agree Stephen deserves a
    medal
for keeping this site running i hope people relaise how much it actually costs to build a website never mind maintain it. I am no expert in websites but I no it costs a small fortune and no forgetting all the time it takes to keep it running.

    Fireboat/Vintage Model Boat Day 2012
Well Everyone, Fireboat/Vintage Model boat day has come and gone, I would like to say a big thank you to all who made the effort to come and visit us again, some more new faces, different models, and of course the Old Faithful supporters, I did enjoy watching and scoring the steering competition event, I told you it was something different and would need you to look at the course plan and work out what way round to sail to gain maximum points, one competitor stood out at having it sorted and finally got a well deserved win (not a fluke one eh Stephen) the result being a convincing slaughter this time, 3rd place Peter Ellis 95 points, 2nd and very well done in the conditions Graham Taylor with 107 points and way ahead of the field Stephen Ellis, with nearly 80 points lead on 186 points,Very Well Done mate you deserved it, (where's is the photo of the winning
    medal
    )?. We also had a
    medal
for the best boat on show, this was a resounding win and so well deserved with a superb Fireboat by Alan Jones, admired by many, we had plenty of boats running on the water a couple of nice Sea Queens, a large scale model of a Huntsman with twin Honda 4 stroke engines, this one is from the King Lear MBC, it also sounds splendid when running, Mike Beesley also putting a 4 stroke motor in his model another that sounds superb when running. A very big thank you all once again and thanks to my own few members who turned up, John and Glenys Gregory and Mick Knowles, nice to see some support for home events. Regards Pete D.

Fireboat Funday 2010 - Given Go Ahead!
HI Model Fireboat Friends, Once again we had a terrific day courtesy of the King Lear Model Boat clubs water, the venue was a superb setting, with a concrete jetty to launch from and a nice high grass bank with some seating from which those who ventured to take part in the have a go steering comp could stand and take full advantage of the view across the course. I was privileged to meet quite a few new people to the event, not only from the host club but others I have made contact through this website, also it was very nice to have the Development Officer and his wife visit the event and have a chat, the ranger in charge Dale also did us proud with some extra mesh netting to keep non eventers away from the models. The steering comp was again going to be a battle, in 3rd place was David Baker, in 2nd place was ? Ellis, in 1st place was ? Ellis, the identity of these two will remain anonymous to avoid further embarrassment, but I will only add that one of them has now got a 3rd, 2nd, 1st place trophy set and the other hasn't!!!!!!!, a couple who were visiting the area for the day were asked to judge which boat they liked best on display, this
    medal
was taken by a host club member Mike Gunn, very well done indeed, and lastly a Special Award
    medal
went to Marie and Graham from the organiser as a gesture of thanks for saving the event from cancellation. Thank you to all who attended, those who came for the first time, thanks to L.C.C Ranger (Dale) and the King Lear club, the weather was absolutely superb as was the venue, we will monitor the weed problem over in Burton again next year, if it looks doubtful then we know where the event will take place, watch this space carefully. Those who did not manage to make it you missed a great event, we look forward to seeing many of you in 2011. Regards to you all, Pete D, organiser.
