"Stand by your beds, officer on parade .. " Welcome aboard Warrant๐Ÿ‘ Stand easy, by your bunk if you please! We don't stand on spit and
    polish
here. Lt. Nerys is more interested in operational efficiency and the seamanship qualities of the crews under her command. Which I believe has contributed to her recent promotions. Carry on Warrant. FLEET// ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Re: 40'' Seaplane Tender, new build Z8 99%
Hi Red, can't really tell from the old Super 8 movie grabs my friend did, but in one, it looks like they just had 1 rope tied over the dinghy to the grab rails. Probably held in place by chocks as well. Think the dinghy was glass so would be quite heavy. Thanks for making me check the pics as I found I'd suffered a senior moment and painted the dinghy the wrong colour,๐Ÿ˜  (should have been yellow)๐Ÿ˜ฎ have no Idea why I did that. No worries, back to the paint shop today ๐Ÿ˜ด. Can't do much at the moment anyhow due to the weather, (raining on and off and too windy) and stand varnish is slow to dry. Nothing major though. Just made and painted the spurling pipe and hooked some chain to the anchor ( will be able to feed chain down through pipe and pull it out to anchor the boat) and stained and waxed some jute string (candle wax and shoe
    polish
melted in a tin on stove) for a deck coil. Glad I'm almost finished as I have a heap of work to do to the house over spring/summer, (paint roof, re clad an external wall etc) JB

    Orders from the boss.
Looks neater than it is Colin๐Ÿ˜‰ That was a year or so ago as well! On the middle bench in the 1st pic my little lathe now sits and the mill had to move stage right! Behind it is a little grinder /
    polish
er. I still lose stuff despite all the categorising and labelling๐Ÿ˜ BTW: Until a recent sort out and clearing of stuff parked on the construction bench I had a box of small to medium scissor clamps on there, nice an' handy. Damned if I can find it now๐Ÿ˜ญ The Borrowers again! Grrrr! Cheers, Doug ๐Ÿ˜Ž PS Don't forget to disable the door alarms before smuggling Colin!!

    Workshop
Used 5mm Acrylic (perspex) sheets for my large sliding deck windows and it has been there for around 9 years without too much deterioration (faces Nth with full sun). I never touched it with any
    polish
and just washed it with a hose on the outside, and it's stayed good all this time (pretty much self cleaning). Will scratch if you rub it with a cloth before removing dust though. Cost me about $600 for the 2 sheets. Didn't want glass there as was too heavy and dangerous if it broke in the high winds we get here at times, (Acrylic flexes)

    Magnetic motors
No sweat Ed ๐Ÿ˜‰ ALL you have to do is take a brushless Inrunner apart, build the stator coils into an aerofoil section nozzle ring (same cross section as an aircraft wing) with the "underside of the wing" on the inside of the nozzle and the blunt end up front,* then JUST graft some neodymium magnets onto the ends of your prop blades ๐Ÿ˜ฎ balance and
    polish
. Then just install your nozzles where you would normally fit the rudders. Use a 360ยฐ servo for steering control. Easy peasy ๐Ÿ˜ Interested to see who does it first๐Ÿ˜ Cheers, Doug ๐Ÿ˜Ž * Effect of this is to increase the water pressure inside the ring and decrease it on the outside. Thus improving the efficiency of the prop / impeller.

    Re: Suction hose fittings
Hi Mike. Nice lathe work๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ I pleased the my drawings were good enough for you to work from. I didn't lacquer my fittings and they are in need of a
    polish
now but when I do I'll give them a coat or two. Rob.
