Beautiful! You must have had her on a trailer to the harbour. How was she constructed?
I would have liked to build mine to the same scale, but just don't have the space or facility to transport to our little lake. Only way would be to build in two halves. There is a bloke in Hamilton who built a US carrier to 1/96, brought it to our annual
regatta
. Not very detailed. Weighed a ton - put ballast in after launching. Was very susceptible to wind. Carried it in the back of a ute in a case with red flag on the overhang. Had a set of wheels to get it to launch.
Most of my RC models are to 1/96 except Nelson to 1/192. I had intended to build her to 1/96 in two halves, but at some stage she would have had to be joined during construction, and my workshop has a washing machine and drier in it so just not on.
What drawings did you use?

More information-I thought a pdf file was pretty much universal in the computer world, but I have been wrong before! I could open it by just clicking on the icon. Such is life.
The model ship that some asked about is the USS ANTIGONE, a 1919 circa troop transport. The builders grandfather served on her 1918-1919. She was originally SS Neckar built for North German Lloyd from her 1900 launch until seized by the U.S. in 1917. After her war service she was SS Potomac for United States Lines. The model has 2 main drive motors a smoking stack, navigation & deck lights. Fiberglass hull.

Hi Doug
Yes I agree, on the posting page it does say files. I was looking at the heading on the post.
Portable Document Files are not Photo files.
I suspect Adobe PDF like its Flash player is possibly not that secure and many service providers now prefer using a different and more secure medium.
Just about to head off to set up for the Model Boat Convention, kooks like we might have some decent weather.
Happy days

Hi Dave, harsh? it just doesn't work! All you get is the Adobe logo!
The site actually says "Upload photos / files"! pdf is a file, and yes you are correct - PORTABLE. QED.
Several of us have fallen into this trap. it would have been so much easier for me to have given Marky the manual for the RC set I suggested to him as a rookie.
Re THE PICS; I was also wondering about it being a liberty ship cos it's not quite right for an auxiliary dry goods supply ship or oiler.
After a period of monsoon rain we now have around 30ยฐ, get a lot done outside until evening, then the infamous Bavarian thunderstorms start! ๐ค
Just had another one ๐ก
I used to tell people in the office "I don't want to hear any more crap about English weather! While we have floods my mother has a garden hose ban and brown lawn"! Aren't PDFs portable document files? it's a bit harsh blaming the site when the caption clearly states "Attach Photos".
I agree great looking pics. Could that be a Liberty ship?

HMS Illustrious Aircraft carrier
Hi Doug,
No wonder you're a fleet admiral! Sounds as if you have had quite a time, and I'd guess just about retiring, which I've been for some sixteen years now after most of my adult life running tour coaches, twenty years overland to india and Nepal. Resurrected model ship building when I came to Canada.
There is a guy in Hamilton with an American carrier which is about seven feet long. He has a special box and trailer for it. installs the ballast after launching. it sails well, though does not like wind, and is not much to look at. He had it on our lake about three years ago for our annual Canada day
regatta
. My longest ship is HMS Ceres, five feet. Sails well and is remarkably stable for such a narrow really oversize destroyer.
Back to sorting out pom pom control systems about half an inch high, and fguring out how to fit the windscreen to Fairey Fulmars.

Pilot Boat
Recently built from an Aeronaut kit, this is a 1/24th scale Pilot Boat based on a German design. Powered by two 540 brushed motors with 3 bladed brass props it attains something like scale speed. The colour is Volkswagen Bright Orange, courtesy of Halfords and the non-slip deck is acrylic green mixed with silver sand then covered with a silk finish varnish.
The boat was filmed at an illuminated
regatta
staged by Bournville Model Yacht and Power Boat Club on their lake in Bournville, Birmingham

(Working Vessel) Pilot Boat by Aeronaut
My first attempt at building a plastic hull proved difficult due to the bends and curves but the final result was satisfactory.
The lighting system/circuit also proved a challenge but she looked well at a recent illuminated

All in all I am quite pleased with the final result (Motor: MFA 540) (ESC: Mtronics MicroViper Marine) (8/10)

Hi Ed
Yours sure looks the part now! I've been following your build blog with interest and I hope you have now cured your leak.
Like you, I have almost finished the pilot boat. I am struggling with the lighting circuit at the moment but hope to have it done in time for an evening
regatta
at a nearby club in a couple of weeks. The radar revolves and I am hoping to motorise the searchlight. Once complete I will post a short video.

Our August

went well, lots of fun but there was rain in the forecast so attendance was off a bit. Had about 48 models, 23 skippers. The first photo is of the SSMA display with my IJN URANAMI, made from a paper model kit.
The third phots shows the Captain's briefing board for the steering course.
MV PAETRA (last Photo) built on last years prize of a free hull from Loyalhanna Dockyard by Norman Brailsford, he researched the ship on the internet, obtained photos and went to work. Real nice job! We all had a good time, finished up just before the rain came!

Our July, 2016 Fun Float was a great success! The weather was perfect and we had a great number of spectators, met a few new Captains who just came to sail with us and see what we are about! We had up to 6 scale sail boats on the water and several powered boats. We were also experimenting with "on board video" which we are setting to music and commentary. Even the wives enjoyed the day of great weather, a snack bar, walking trails and each others company. There was even talk about relocating our
