    Re: RC Laser
Another comment on the Nip. I have sailed mine in anything from 0 knots to approaching 20. It does act like a submarine downwind in 20 knots but that is probably operator being overly keen. They are very competitive in most wind speeds. I live in the range behind Brissie - time to have that beer. Looking forward to see what other people think of more on the different sailing classes in this group. (I had the privilege of photographing in a professional capacity the IOM World Titles on the Sunshine Coast Qld about 10 years ago which got me interested in RC as opposed to the Etchells class, but never got started with RC till i moved here.) I went to the local club to check it out and was hooked as soon as they gave me a
    remote
and a Wee Nip to try out.

Re: 40'' Seaplane Tender, first test run
RE- Excellent video jb, what program do you use Hi Rooky, thanks for that, I am using the Cyberlink Video Suite progrm (basic) which came as an free option with my computer. Can upgrade but will cost and will probably loose this one in the process. I have the camera on my bike helmet which seems to work ok (as long as you set it on the right angle!) and no chance of dropping it. About as close to eye view as possible. Vids a bit jerky as I am looking round to see where the $1500 yacht is (and the buoys) camera is a 'Sportscam' Chinese thing, which I bought here for $100 and was almost as good as a Go pro till I scratched the lens and tried to fix it (hence the fuzzy spot)Has touch screen and
    remote
as well. Tried to find another one but no luck. JB

Hi Martin, just been thinking the same thing re main switch for the ST. I thought of using a
    remote
switch hooked to/replacing both ESCS on/off slide switches. Have to use a UBEC from the motor battery to power the REC which would be switched on before fitting the 'lid' You would only be using this system 'off' for a cup of tea or 'head' break so REC drain would be negligible on a decent battery. I just thought of a small prob with the
    remote
s I have,โ˜น๏ธ - I would only need to switch the Neg and Pos on the slide switches. The
    remote
s have power +- in and power+- out with the operating lead to the REC, so I'm not sure I can make those work (there are probably plain on/ off
    remote
s available but haven't looked). An easy way would be to make a small board with a micro servo and micro switch using the servo wheel shaped to a cam, which would do the same job. I've got a number of micro servos I wouldn't use in a plane but would be fine for this application, so I may do it that way.

    WTC/Sub Driver.
Hi Guys, Just a little warning if you plan on using a
    remote
on/off switch in your WTC. To work it needs to be permanently connected to a power source (your battery) even when your submarine is switched off, so it tends to drain the battery when you are not using it. So the last thing you want is to keep stripping down your WTC just to charge the battery. If you have an external charging point then this is not so bad. A magnet on/off switch will prevent this problem. It is to late for me to change mine now as it will be a massive job to do so but if I have to then I will later. Martin.

    WTC/Sub Driver.
Hi Guys, Another little update. I have installed the
    remote
on/off switch in between the pump and the pump switch arrangement, fitted some connectors for the battery and battery charge systems, fitted a small digital volt meter and fuse holder. Completed the wiring and tested all systems. Everything in this WTC is bits and pieces that I have collected over the years. I must admit that using the standard servos made it a lot more difficult to get it all to fit in. Because I am using the BEC from one of the ESCโ€™s it means That the battery position on the receiver is not used, so l have decided that I will power the navigation and running LEDโ€™s from it as when it is powered up I get 4.5 volts from it which is ideal for the LEDโ€™s. I did plan on having the signal light working in morse code using an Arduino board but I have not got the room to fit it in. I will see if I can make some sort of simple flashing system instead, if not then I will have to forget it. Here are some photos of the forward and aft modules being tested, and one photo of the forward module in the tube, you have to admit it is quite tightly packed. Martin.
