Transmitter Mode 2
Newbie question. I am going to buy a FlySky FS-i6 and want a spring loaded throttle on left and spring loaded rudder on right. Do I get this if I buy mode 2. ie will it be spring loaded. Chose this brand as I understand it and use it on my
sailboat
. My
sailboat
transmitter is not spring loaded on left as it pulls the sheets on and is then left alone.

Ed,
This is probably my favorite part of a build, deciding what to build! So many great boats out there, how many tugs do you currently have? Just curious..
Do you ever build
sailboat
s? That's how I got started, with sails, like the history and quiet running of course.
Glad to see you are jumping on to the next build, I liked your detailed blog on the Brooklyn, very well done.

In the 90's the wooden strips from the hull were so dried out, that I had to fill it complete with epoxy and sprayed the uniform 'baby blue'color.
After a long period in the attic , it saw daylight again and the sails needed to be replaced.
Now it is a static model with sailing capacities. (7/10)

Hello, Just been a member for a short time now and I really enjoy this site. Couple of reasons, I enjoy getting information from different parts of the world, different views. One of my main interests is English Working

Book on Sailing Barges
Chris, Thank for the information, I will look into that book.
I started in RC Boating but building and racing several classes of
sailboat
s, including several US1Meter class. Being a much better builder than skipper, I was drawn to schooners that many club members had. Got interested in working sailcraft due to the history and the slower, power of these craft.
The Gaff Rigged Handbook by Jihn Leather is one of my favorite build guides. Yes, I really like Gaff Rigging. This book was great for lots of rigging details and sails... See photo example.

Hatch & Tow Bitts
Stour-Boy,
Hey, great tip, I hadn't thought of that! I like to salvage from anything I can find. You are right, these will solder well. Have to visit the local shop and see if I can get a couple of larger caliber casings.
Makes me remember, I build
sailboat
s as well and have found a great source for booms, flag poles, etc. ARCHERY SHOPs around here have ranges and tend to collect old shafts minus feathers etc. I let them know I am a model builder and could I buy some old shafts. They pull out a box of about 100 and say take what you want...free. They are mostly Carbon Fiber, so are insanely strong, cut with an abrasive wheel well, hold paint nicely. See my harbor, the SeaTurtle has these for booms. Some of the arrow shafts picked up were a nice aluminium. Regards,

Thinking about deck and pilot house designs. Good thing to do while the glue dries. The attach drawing found on the net is making me think about a front ramp as I like these workboats.

I took my Emma out for a second "real" water voyage, tethered of course. Overall I am pleased with my progress. I need a more powerful servo to manage the sails and my rudder mechanism needs to be reworked so that it doesn't bind-up short when tacking starboard.

Trying to learn to use this forum properly I am publishing a video that shows an experiment I did to find out how fast the stepper motor could turn. I am using in my model of the
sailboat
Carina 2 stepper motors like the one shown in the video to work as a winch to control the position of the sails in a system solution where I am realizing this my own way to implement the sheets as shown on the original
sailboat
Endeavour. This requires my sheet control system to control the length of the sheet of the mainsail i.e. over a range of 8.3 meters. This requires the drum which is turned by the stepper motor to make 21 full turns. Details will be published in my report from scratch of building my Carina.

Left click on [Download], top left corner of the media gallery window.
Windows will then ask you if you want to Save or Open the file.
left click 'Open', your pdf reader will open it. You can then save it to wherever you want.

I might be foolish, but I am not able to open the pdf files I have attached myself. What do I have to do so that I do not get to see just the image indicating it is a pdf file I have attached, but the pdf file itself?
Second question:
What I would like to do is that what is in the pdf file would appear online on the screen and I would be adding photos to the text I the way my attached pdf file does contain?
When hitting the button on top "Post New Build Update" all I found out what I can do is to write text as I do here and attache a pdf file as I have done previously.

Mornin' John, Hows things 'Ol Mate'๐
Basically on a PC the 'Photos' App built into Windows 10 should do the job. Pic shows the opening window displaying the last photos I downloaded / Stored.
i haven't experimented much with it yet but it should find any photos / pics on any drive, stick or memory card on your PC.
If you are using a Smartphone I don't know, although most seem to have a 'Gallery' function built in! it will depend on which phone you have and which operating system it uses. Best thing to do there is look at the Apps already installed or in the Google or Microsoft App Stores.
More later when I've fiddled with the 'Photos' App a bit more.
Better shift to a new thread then as well, afore we're arrested for hijacking๐ฒ (again๐)!
At the moment I'm putting the finishing touches to Colin's Taycol Supermarine. Just reassembled it with new bearings and ran some tests using my prototype converter board.
Runs fore and aft perfectly on a normal brushed ESC.๐

Hi PJ,
The reader is HTML5 and not a pdf file unfortunately.
The reader does have a print command, where you can also select page ranges, but when I try it the prints come out oversize so that there's only about a third of the page actually printed.
And yes, I've b******d about with all possible printer settings (on the 3 printers available to me) all to no avail. Seems that the reader App overrides my own printer drivers!๐ก
Best solution I found up to now, and used this evening to print an HMCS Snowberry conversion article I found in the same issue, is to use Windows 'Snipping Tool' to copy the pages only.
Problem with Print Screen is that you also get all the system / app junk around what you really want! ๐ค
Cheers, Doug ๐
BTW on my keyboard the command is [Strg,Druck/S-Abruf] ๐๐

If the program will let you print, and the magazine is a .pdf, you can select the page range on the print menu. if not, one thing that has worked for me is to do a "Print Screen command," (Ctrl PrtScn) and paste into a document, such as Word.

Restore An American Nirvana Yacht
I have by luck, not judgement acquired a second hand 'Nirvana' Yacht, it is a sloop rigged craft that was only sold in America and retailed between $250 and $350 according to the revision version and the year brought.
This was a bit of a surprise to me as I only paid ยฃ10 for it.
The Nirvana RC
sailboat
was first produced by Megatech in 2002. and is 32in long and the hull& deck are ABS plastic.
The quality of the boat is unmatched in the price range, with such features as a lead keel ballast, superior polyester sails that won't mildew, stretch or tear, and fittings that make the boat a dream to sail. The mast and booms are made of carbon reinforced composite that is light and very strong.
The Boat hull is in sound condition just a few scratches, there is a hairline crack in the mast area, no radio gear at all. and sails are usable but really need replacing.
