Hi With regards to rusting, try putting some wire wool into a jar with
    vinegar
do this in a well vented๐Ÿ‘ area, then after a few day's place some of the wool onto your model were you think rust would be and leave for a day, https://youtu.be/2HOSb03IOwA. Fred

"planks ripped from soft wood and pickled" I know this will sound daft ,what do you use to pickle the planks? I know. Doug mentioned
    vinegar
,if so how long do you steep the bits for . Cheers Marky๐Ÿ‘

Thanks for the info Bill๐Ÿ‘, still a reasonable but still handleable size at 31". "ripped from softwood and pickled until I could form the bends" I must ask! Malt, wine or apple
    vinegar
!? ๐Ÿ˜Š "been into model aircraft but this is more relaxing at least they come home in one piece." After two crashes and one fly-away I too switched to boats/ships around 16! First attempt was my destroyer HMS Hotspur in 1/72 scale - I can swim to rescue her - but I can't fly ๐Ÿ˜‰ She's currently undergoing her 3rd refit or SLEP (Service Life Extension Program)! "will fit brass prop after sea trials" ๐Ÿ˜ฎ Would have thought that props would be kinda handy on a sea trial? As a learner 3D printer owner I will be interested to see which details you use it for and HOW! Cheers, Doug ๐Ÿ˜Ž
