Boat Plans by canabus Fleet Admiral!   Posted: 20 days ago
Hi CaptBlight Has a bit of an Aerokits fan, these are workable kit !! I have a started Dumas 1949 Runabout with all the paper work. It's poorly written and the writers never built the boat !!! Mistakes in numbering etc !!! I can see why you are a little gun shy, but, you have work through it and finish the boat. I have a number of the Aerokits plans, but, not the Waveney. So, if you get a PDF copy kept me in mind. I will ask a few of my contacts for the plans!!! Canabus

Bridge/Cockpit/Flight Deck construction by Skydive130 Fleet Admiral!   Posted: 3 months ago
so, having been at work all weekend, today saw a day off and a few hours to start building the foreward cockpit bridge thingy. There will be quite a bit of shape changing mods to this part as we build, simply because the Dumas kit is of the 44ft Coastguard cutter and the Waveney class Lifeboat has quite a few differences. Changes to make include the windows, the rear walls to be extended to take acount of extra windows at back of cab, forward sloping front piece, engine intakes on both sides, and changes to the roof. Still waiting on a reference book on "Waveneys" from ebay, should have been here by now! that will give me the change to start super detailing the exterior decs, cabins ect.

For sale/offers to two kits by andyhynes Sub-Lieutenant   Posted: 4 months ago
I have a Dumas PT109 48"kit for sale. I do not know if it is fully complete. On examination it appears complete also the plans are present. I also have a 1/72 (60"Length) scale budget Kitshack kit with plans for the Prince Albert Ferry (Troop ship) known as "lucky Albert" during WW2. Reasonable offers please (Surrey Area)

Victory Tug by Ron Fleet Admiral!   Posted: 4 months ago Anyone have any experience with this Dumas kit that you would care to share?

Mornin' Ed, Not surprised that this is your last Dumas kit🤔 I recently bought the Deans Marine kit of HMS Manxman, a WW2 fast cruiser / minelayer, 1:96 53". It has a superb fibreglass hull that I can't fault and hundreds of cast resin, brass and white metal bits n pieces 😲 On the other hand the drawing supplied is a bit limited, but no sweat as I have several detail photos of the original anyway😉 Rather that way round than like Dumas! Attached are a few pics from the build instructions (there are hundreds on a CD). Good luck with the rest of your build👍 😎

Michael by Ron Fleet Admiral!   Posted: 4 months ago
Dumas kit Carol Moran, renamed Michael for my first grandson. My first build, learning how to make those brass railings each post being soldered following a paper pattern. Some customizing at the request of my grandson with added port holes, and deck features. He helped to paint it.

Dumas 1203 Coast Guard Lifeboat (RNLI Waveney conversion) by Bobatsea Chief Petty Officer   Posted: 4 months ago
Great project I'm currently doing the same kit, but I also got the Dumas running gear kit with the model. I'll be converting my boat to the Canadian version of the 44' lifeboat (Bamfield Lifeboat).

Dumas 1203 Coast Guard Lifeboat (RNLI Waveney conversion) by Skydive130 Fleet Admiral!   Posted: 4 months ago
So here we go again! I have decided to give other projects a rest for a time in favour of this little gem. Pick up off eBay for less than £100 NIB posted, couldnt resist! Its the Dumas (kit no:1203) 44' Coast Guard Lifeboat. I dont know if this kit is still produced by Dumas and having looked at the Die cutting of the parts, certainly seems like an old kit? However, I love my building and the challenges, so I am sure it will turn out nice at the end. Finished length 33". I shall be converting this to a RNLI Waveney Class Lifeboat and will possibly go with 44-003 named "Khami" which was based in Great Yarmouth and Gorleston, which is local to me here in Suffolk. Sadly very little turns up on this boat via Google, but at some stage may pop out to the Great Yarmouth Lifeboat station and see if I can hunt anymore info on her. I shall not be using the recommended Dumas running gear for 2 reasons, 1st its a geared set-up (I am going with MFA540 brushed direct drive) and the cost of over £150! Photos show the box artwork, plans and the included wood. Last photo shows my electrics less propshafts and props that are on order. Note the Star Wars 3.75" figures that with poetic licence could be painted to represent crew. However, at this point the model is approx 1;16 scale and the figures would be 1:18 scale so maybe too small. There are 1:16 scale lifeboat figures available but pricey? My one issue at this point is going to battery choice? do I go with a small 6v lead acid or perhaps 2 Tamiya type 7.2v NIMH in series. anyone who has built anything like this may want to advise. LIPO not an option as the Mtroniks ESC do not support LIPO. Space inside the hull may also be an issue? Another issue is going to be fabricating some propshaft struts for the rear next to the props. There is quite a bit of prop shaft exposed outside the hull, so these would be integral to support and strength of the propshafts. Is there anything available off the shelf (they are included in the running gear set, but dont seem to be available on there own) of do I need to fabricate from brass tube and sheet/strip brass?

Anyone else...... by bilzin Commander   Posted: 4 months ago
ever built a Dumas Miss Unlimited hydroplane ? I captured the complete kit and running hardware for a song, and the 1/10 Allison engine kit along with a scale drive figure are winging their way to me from the USA as I type. One question I already have is...was there a plan supplied with the kit, or is the build pamphlet all there is ?
