Hi Mark
The good thing about the old heavy irons, is they keep there heat, so on a long joint, you get a good clean finish.

Hi Soft start means you can push the stick full forward and the revs builds up at a steady pace, a lot of the ripmax esc don't have bec, as far as l can remember, l switched the tranny on, centre the trims, plugged the esc and 4.8v into the res, you should get a steady light, press the button, you should be ready to go, if not let me know and l'll see if l can find the data sheet.

Hi Colin
I'm happy to see there's someone else how uses cascamite l thought l was the only one, everyone else seem to use PVA's. it is a great glue but not on wood that has been soaked in oil. Best of look with the restoration.

Hi. You do'nt want the pot to move so you glue it in the nil position, when you want it to stop, centre the trim. I've used them for sail winches on small sails.

Hi Cormorant
I have done this several of these, centre the pot. I do by connecting it to a receiver, put the trims to, centre on the Rx switch on and move the pot so that the motor stops on the servo, then put some super glue on the pot and leave for short time, replace the small gears, the last gear has a small tag on the lower part of he gear, snip it off, and open up the hole in the gear slightly, replace the gear and the top gear. You can then use a spare channel on the rx to adjust the speed on the servo in both forward & reverse. if you have any trouble go on mayhem under the black arts section and there is a vid on there.
Regards Dave
